Clippy cub has been flying for about 10 flights so far, findings?
The undercarriage did not get Good Housekeeping seal of Approval. Replaced with simple wire and bigger wheels setup for our often muddy field. Wider too, standard U/C screws to attach.
Motor used is recommended NTM 3548, noisy little fella, goes like the clappers on Zippy Compacts 3700mah 35c 4 cell 14.8 volt. Mostly half throttle use, but knife edge flight uses about 3/4 power, any more and it climbs in knife edge.
Nice smooth aeros, slow rolls, inverted, slow takeoffs, super smooth landings... And well watched Sunday flier. Flights are around 10 minutes now... Happy fun Cub.

Well, I finally got mine built and flown. It's absolutely incredable value for money!. I have gone with a 4s setup rather than 3s. The only thing i changed on mine, was the undercarriage, which was changed for the EFlite Supercub 25e Unit (Which fits perfectly).

Maiden flew it today, and was astounded by it's flight characteristics. With winds of 12 mph, it was possible to just about hold it in a level 'hover' which was greeted with a round of appluase from my fellow flyers. Then at the other end of the spectrum, you can open the taps, and it turns into a fine aerobatic machine. (No 3D Mind!). It will take off and fly VERY slowly, in fact you can keep it completly scale looking if you wish. Landing is incredably easy, and will make you look like a pro. Take your time building this one, and you will be rewarded with probably the best clipped wing Cub around. I have some very high value models in my Hangar, but this little beauty has completely blown me away!. Well done HobbyKing! keep these great bargains coming!

I live in the US but got tired of waiting for it to get back in stock so I ordered it from the HK warehouse. It arrived in absolutely perfect condition, nothing damaged, well boxed and padded. The price trumps all but the quality is good, the covering is great. I'm a newbie at the ARF's so for me, the manual could have used a few extra steps and details but overall was good. I have read all kinds of reviews suggesting different motor/esc/prop combos. Some say the recomneded NTM 35-48 900kv with a 13x6 prop is good, most say a 4cell lipo works better and balances better. I have both a 3 and 4 cell to try and will post the results. Overall, great plane for the money.

First flight on the weekend - no dramas to report. Flew out with a couple of clicks of aileron trim. I've fitted mine with an ASP61FS, and reinforced the firewall with ply, as well as fitting fillets to most joints forward of the CoG. I've also fitted a Dubro anti-vibration mount, as the plane is lightly built. Only real gripe is that the tailplane/elevators are clearly made from soft balsa and I can't shrink the warps out of them. It's not too bad, but that's what's causing the need for a little aileron trim to compensate for a warped tail. Could build a new tail I guess. I've set it up with flaperons - causes a little nose down pitch which I'll mix out - but really makes it float. Generally, the model flies in a very unstressed fashion - bit slow on the roll - I will increase throws and differential. Only one flight so far - will report more once I get it fully sorted. Overall, I'm very happy with it - a nice looking, nice flying model - but be aware it's lightly built and really designed for electric.

Hallo.

very nice model, nice looking, smooth flying. 2 main defects: cowl arrived broken, it is plastic, no fiberglass. landing gear is poor quality, rubber band broke at maiden flight (well, attempt of), replaced with springs, after 2 flights the steel frame broke. Once you change the gear with a new one the model is almost perfect. Mine is equipped with 42/50 600kv motor, 4s 3700 (good for balance) and 14/7 or 15/6 prop

A very stable and nice plane, but the landing gear is weak. My broke on the first bumpy landing. I have replaced it with Hangar 9 Cub 40 landing gear with minor modification (some extra wood inside). The cowl was cracked when I received it. Im using a 60 amp esc, NTM Prop Drive Series 3548 900kv, 3000mah 4S 30C batterys and Turnigy 12x6 wood prop. I have approx 10 min flights.

5 Crowns is perfection and 4 crowns isn't bad. Only complaint...the landing gear. Looks like a cool idea but not worth the effort to reinforce. I don't have a suggestion for a replacement but saw others do on separate reviews. A great flying plane and yes, for the price, get two and give one as a gift. Would make a great club prize too. Do reinforce the frame at strategic places. It is an easy flyer. I would purchase again.
