NOT an ARF

Apr 25, 2017

Unfortunately even the assembly instructions for building the thing (see files) omit important steps. Gluing the bottom wing in will result in problems if you need to get to the Rx, servos etc. I fitted some bits to screw it onto the fuselage. Faye is right that the CofG needs to be about 40mm back from lower wing which requires a 3S 2200mah battery almost hitting the back of the prop. To stop the top wing moving sideways I fitted some fine pull-pull wire from the top of the struts to the mid plywood and screwed the struts to the wing with fine screws and pop sticks. After a maiden crash where my CofG was too aft (I think), I'm planning on trimming some down elevator in to stop it climbing suddenly on takeoff. See photo.

I found the best CG starting place to be 40 mm back of the foremost point on the leading edge of the lower wing. This will require added weight in the nose. Flies well but the landing gear needs reinforcement.

Be aware that this is NOT an ARF model and the recieved kit is NOT like the photograph above. The kit contains 3 sheets of lazer cut plywood and pre-printed EPP parts. The instruction manual does not give any indication on how to assemble the plywood parts or how to attach the EPP parts. If you have never built a kit, stay well away from this model. The kit is overpriced.
