The Dancing Wings Boeing Stearman PT-17 is a small, lightweight profile style foam kit that comes complete with motor, servos, ESC, and a ready to bind DSMX/2 compatible receiver. The all-up flying weight is just 55g, so being under 250g it is not subject to the same flying limitations as heavier models. The kit is very straightforward to assemble, it utilizes 3mm thick pre-painted high-quality PP foam for the majority of the construction so the parts count is quite low, and carbon strips are supplied for strengthening. The model builds up quickly into a good-looking, fun-to-fly small lightweight biplane that is perfect for indoor flying, or outdoors at the local park or flying field on reasonably calm days.

The supplied power train includes a small but powerful 1104-3700KV brushless motor, driving a 4" propeller, required and not supplied is a 150~250mAh 2S LiPo battery. Also supplied are 3 x 1.7g servos and a 4ch micro RX154E DSM/2 compatible receiver with a built-in 7A~2S brushless ESC.

Guter Flieger für windstille Tage

Feb 27, 2022

Not reallly!

Feb 05, 2022

At first glance nice model, fun to build. The print is kind of lousy at the fuselage but still looks ok.
The wings have carbon enforcement but the fuselage does not. So you have a very soft fuselage bending with the movements of rudder and elevator. The result is a - very light - model which flies of course but is unable to be controlled correctly. It is unstable and moving as it wants.
This can also be fun - more or less - but we aware you cannot be sure that it goes where you want to. If you glue additional carbon spars at top and bottom of the fuselage it gets better - but far from good.
Additionally very fragile electronics and servos. First defects after a few flights.
Hobbyking has some good models - but not this one!
