HobbyKing introduces a new Dart to the series. The Dart 450 FPV H Quad is packed with even more features and yet retains a fun price tag.
The Dart 450 packs some great features, design, durability, looks and yet won’t break the bank. The frame comes with a clean-and-dirty vibration isolation system, designed to give the camera and flight controller a nice smooth ride. The Dart 450 also has a built in power distribution system that mounts the ESC’s, as well as direct mounting for XT60/T-connectors. It also has an Integrated LED orientation head and tail light system and a low voltage alarm linked to the LEDs with buzzer as well as AUX power outputs for A/V and the FC! The Frame has CNC cut channels for routing the wiring through the frame, making this one of the cleanest installs you can have.
The motor arms are nice and beefy at 5mm thick for crash free damage, and yet made light in all the right places. The Dart also has camera mounting options for FPV and HD, mounted forward and away from prop view. The new 450 will clear 10inch props and accept batteries as wide as 56mm!
If you compare the Dart to the competition the only thing that is less is the price tag.
• Clean-and-dirty vibration isolation system
• Power distribution with built in power connector mount and LED spot lights
• Integrated low voltage alarm tied to the LED and buzzer
• 8~10 inch prop adaptable
• Wire routing channels for a clean install
• 5mm thick motor arms
Motors: 2212~2216 size
Propellers: 8~10 inches
Flight controller: 30-45mm mounting distance
Battery: 3~4s 2100-5400mah
This frame is a lot of fun. With the anti vib mount she is great. It fit up to a 22XX motor with up to 30amp ESC. It come with a holder with a camera an all the hardware you need to build.Soldering is not too great on the PDB. It's a bit heavy and a bit weak. There are no spares for this item, I had been waiting 2 weeks before I got a reply saying that there are no spares as I needed some arms now I have to get a new frame, don't bother buying this frame.A well made frame. Nick thick arms with all the holes pre drilled. The fixings and accessories are well made with aluminium spacers and steel screws. The PDB is well equipped with pre-installed and wired LED, with two modes (Solid/Flash). Would recommend thread lock on all fixings!
The frame has plenty of room inside for all components. The PDB has plenty of pads to enable tidy wiring and easy access to power anywhere on the quad.
My spec below:
900KV ntm motors
Afro 30a ESC
5000mah 4S lipo
Couple of issues with the frame however.
1. No nylon stand offs for the FC
2. No Nylon screws for the Vibration Dampers
3. Black Dampers are far too soft. Change to Blues
The above 3 points are all standard on the Dart 400, not sure why this doesn't get the same treatment. Hence the 4 crowns. When I purchased this I was skeptical about it's performance, After equipping it with Naza M flight computer some nice motors and FPV set-up. I was impressed. It flew wonderfully and stable. Then due to my error i dropped it out of the sky about 100ft. Hit the grass hard... To my surprise just the camera popped off NO DAMAGE to the frame or anything else. Put the camera back on and to this day it has over fifty flights and still flies great. I'm going to buy another soon.Good frame with a few desing flaws. I bought 2 frames, both had the light mode switch ripped off and missing parts. One of the post had no threads. I find the rubber absorber a little weak. You need to order nylon screws to hold the dirty frame and clean frame together so they do not seperate when you try to install the battery. The little post used as landing gear are very weak. you should replace them.Besides some initial problems with the delivery of this item (like others, the button for the battery alarm had broken off in shipping) - it has so far been a decent and fun frame to fly. The arms seem pretty durable, and its fairly light weight. With no assembly instructions, I would say its a moderate-level build - but is very clean looking when finished thanks to the integrated PDB, mounting area for ESC's and ample room for electronics.
The vibration dampening balls that come with it are very soft, and will not hold much weight in the clean section before bottoming out. You will probably want to get blue 65g dampeners (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__55649__Vibration_Damping_Ball_65g_Bag_of_8_US_Warehouse_.html). Even with those, this still isn't meant to hold much weight. I have a gimbal and controller mounted on the front of mine and still get some vibration from the clean section of the frame - luckily I mostly shoot photos, my video is usable but not amazing.
I paird this frame with 30A Simonk ESC's and NTM Prop Drive Series 2830-1100KV Motors, and it fly very smooth and nice.Just finished mine no problem with screws at all. Pictures in files section. Oh my switch for the LEDs was missing the button but the switch still works, you just need a cap screw to press inside the hole.Very good frame with very thick and durable arms. Only minus is the cheap quality of screws. Be careful when tightening so you won't round them. Also, one spacer on the top or "clean" part of the frame didn't have threads on other end. Why there is no spare screws included?
I like the power distribution and the very bright LEDs very much too and the presoldered XT-60 is a nice little extra.
My setup has a Multistar 4S Li-Po, 2216-11 900KV Sunnysky motors and 10x4.7 props and seems to be flying smooth. Haven't tested with video gear yet, but I think it will be smooth too and there should be room for a FPV camera AND a GoPro or Mobius. :)
I recommend this frame for everyone who are looking for this sized quad frame for FPV or aerial video. Unbeatable in this price point! Just add some extra screws...
