Introducing our Doctor Mad Thrust High performance EDF motor series. Our Doctor has been busily working away behind the scenes to come up with this MAD series of EDF motors.......Power? - Not lacking with these!

This is 1700kv 6s version to suit 90mm EDF units, with a whopping 2600watt power output, this 36mm inrunner is not to be sniffed at!

The Dr Mad Thrust range of EDF inrunners have been built with only one thing in mind - maximum EDF performance! They feature high temperature stator windings, high quality bearings, are precision balanced for smooth running and are of a 4 pole design.

Does the job.

Running this on only 3cells but at around 80 amps max and with a water cooling jacket for a custom designed jet unit. Not pushing it's capabilities as it's rated for around 3KW!

Excellent motor...

Dec 24, 2019

I tested this with a freewing metal housing, a change sun 12 blade 90mm edf impeller and a 6S 60C 5000mah Turnigy battery fully charged. I used a hobbyking 200 amp esc for this test. I got 129A, 2900W and 4.04 KG of thrust. That is in line with several 4072 1700kv motors I have tested. If that scares you pushing it that hard I got 97A, 2200W and 3.5 kilograms of thrust using the freewing 90mm12 blade impeller. I had to slightly modify the impeller to use a standard motor like this one. Hard to beat this unless you are going to step up to an 8S setup. Happy Flying!

brutal beast

I'm running this motor in combination with a YEP 150A and a 7x7 prop. Pulling about ~110A. It's working in a reinforced aircombat model which i build last winter. Well, it's quite heavy now to fly aircombat with this thing because it's a bit heavy with this setup, but that's my fault :D. It does what i wanted it to. It's faaaast. And it's more than 7 times the power that my model was usually construted for.
All in all a great motor for a great price.

Didn't give 5 stars for all just because of the similar find to previous review. The motor kv rating might be quite off. When running with flyfly 7-blade fan in flyfly 90mm EDF housing, Castle ICE 120hv timing at 1 (the lowest), it gave 100 Amp at 7-cell setup (~4400mah >30C fully charged). Running full throttle for most of the time, after landing the motor measures only ~125 F, pretty cool for ~2500W motor. And my 7lb Flyfly F-4 phantom moves pretty quick. It is a very good motor for 7s (flyfly 7-blade or CS 10blade) or 8s (5-6 blade).

I have this crazy Inrunner in my 2,17m F5D CFK-Hotliner with 1996g

RFM Prop 9x6 at 38mm Spinner are about 75 Amp at 4S on Ground, at another Hotliner with 45mm Spinner and same setup about 100 Amps. After flight recalculating results in lower Amp-Consume, so next time I try a little bit bigger Props from RFM (ONLY RFM because lot of RPM!!!)

These Motors are just born to drive a good Carbon-Prop!!!
The Sound is so amazing and the Power is just wow

The best choice of Speed Controller is the Hobbyking YEP 150A!
LiPo with high Current are absolutely recommended (> 100A: 4S, 3300mAh = >35C-40C).
Warm up your LiPo to 40C are good to have the full Power at the winter. ;-))

Now I have 7 different Dr. Mad Trust and I want nothing else for my Prop-Planes.
The next I just build with is the 2200KV for my 4S Pylon Racer (Shoestring, perhaps 8x8 APC).
This will give an extra kick in Sound and Speed ;-))
