The Supermarine Spitfire is THE defining aircraft of WW2, the Mk2a was one of the early versions that defined this incredible airplane. During the darkest days of the war, the Spitfire, more than any other aircraft then or since, along with the pilots that flew it, came to symbolize the struggle and triumph of a nation over adversity. This struggle was the "Battle of Britain", those pilots were "The Few" and the triumph was the Spitfire!

Durafly’s Mk2a Spitfire P7308 represents a Spitfire that was flown by Squadron No 71 which was one of the Eagle Squadrons that were formed in the early days of WWII. These fighter squadrons were formed using volunteer pilots from the United States prior to America's entry into the war in December 1941. The attention to detail in this PNF model is matched only by its superb performance and grace in the air. The Mk2a is designed purely for a 4S set-up unlike previous marques, and it boasts a wealth of features you have come to expect from Durafly. These features include an airframe molded in tough EPO foam, factory-installed motor, ESC, servos, and retractable landing gear. It also has faithfully reproduced split flaps, scale outline, fine surface detail, LED lighting system, and authentic scale decals.

The 4S setup enables the Mk2a to perform a full "Airshow" routine including big loops, low banked passes, Split-S', and all the maneuvers expected of a WW2 warbird including of course the iconic Spitfire “Victory Roll”. Thanks to its superb handling and well-balanced flight characteristics it will instill confidence in those who fly it. Like the full-size aircraft, the Durafly Spitfire Mk2a is a joy to fly.

The Durafly Spitfire Mk2a will appeal to both British and American model airplane pilots alike for its tribute of a Spitfire flown by one of the extraordinary Eagle Squadrons that were formed using eager, young Americans, who simply wanted to help make a difference to the war in Europe.

Buy yours now and enjoy the delights and graceful lines whilst flying the most iconic warbird from WWII.

Great project plane .

Dec 04, 2023

I replaced all servos with metal gear types as I didn't like the supplied servos.
Great project plan. The manual recommends 4s 2200 or greater. For 2200, CG is 60, not 65. Great flying plane. Good design correction for the wing stall.

My favorite Spit at present

Oct 20, 2023

No bad habits, looks great overall, they really did a good job with the detail, for the money it's a hard Spit to beat.

Excellent and fun flyer...easy to control even for the intermediate flyer, not for beginners I'm afraid . Good value for money but spares are a problem ...some parts are not on stock such as the 3 bladed propellors.

Great Spit

Nov 28, 2022

This plane flies awesome using a 630 spektrum receiver and a little nose weight up front and some down elevator. That was recommended on several reviews. The plane is heavy, and the landing gear is slight and not very robust. I use mine as a belly lander, sometimes using the gear only for take-off but i may ditch them like i did with the flap servos and control rods to save weight! Beautiful bird with no bad tendencies and one of my favorite's to fly and i am using a 3s 2200. Very scale! Lands great with no flaps, reduced weight and a 2 blade prop! I suggest removing the belly scoop and adding clear or painted duct tape on underside for belly landing...

Overall it's OK.

Few dings here and there out of the box.
Canopy glued uneven. Fuselage LED had some problems with wires.
I had 50$ discount, but it's still bit expensive as a foamy.
Flies good, looks great in air.

Depending on what you order, the only problem would be the shipping costs on item(s) as the cost can be greater

Nothing like a Spitfire!

Oct 13, 2022

This was order #70 for me. Order #71 was for a new motor, since the original was defective. Loose magnet, just like someone else experienced. Although I'm a premier member with all those orders, they didn't honor my claim, sorry to say. I hope the motor I bought does the job. Sounds like the glue was used too sparingly on these motors, although several others I have seem good. The plane itself is very nice. The decals were fun to install, just as easy and nice looking as on my two 109s. Retracts, servos, all work OK. I did manage to install a nine-channel orange receiver AND a gyro with some struggles, but I got it all in there! Tight fit, but stable and a good idea. Hobbyking slips up once in a while. Having to buy a $27 motor is no big deal.

Crashed

Oct 12, 2022

This plane flew wonderfully. It was extremely difficult to mount a stabilized receiver in it.
I think it would land better on a grass field.

One thumb up

Oct 02, 2022

This plane looks great and flies great, has great power.
The flaps work well and slow the plane nicely for landing.
The motor magnets came lose on the maiden flight. The retracts failed on the second flight. Hobby king customer service is top notch, I filed a claim and they sent me a new motor, I took the retracts out and inspected them lubed the main screw with some light grease and after a few tries on the servo tester they started to work better. Although the parts used in the model may not be of top quality I really like the performance and the looks of the model and would recommend this model to my friends.
