The Messerschmitt Bf.110 was one of the most enduring twin engine aircraft of WW2. Initially very successful as a day heavy fighter in support of the German 'Blitzkrieg' across the low countries in 1939/40. After the Battle of Britain the 'Zerstörer' (German for Destroyer) was still used as a day fighter in other areas of conflict, enjoying modest success in the North Africa, Eastern Front and Balkans theaters of war. Known for its adaptability, it performed well as a ground support/attack aircraft but most notably as a night fighter, a role in which it would see great success and development in.

The Durafly Bf.110 is a close to scale model of this iconic German twin engined fighter that perfectly captures the aggressive outline of the 'Zerstörer', but with the quality, ease of assembly and most importantly, the great flying characteristics Durafly is famous for. The model is finished in a scheme representative of 6./ZG 76 based in Greece during the early summer of 1941. This unit favored the aggressive shark's mouth markings, which not only looks great, but helps with orientation too. Part count is comparatively low for a model of this type and a fully detailed instruction manual is provided meaning the Bf.110 can be ready to go in next to no time. All electronics are pre-installed including servos, powerful 1350kv motors, 20amp ESC's, nav lights and metal trunnion electronic retracts. Other features include scale detailed landing struts, mechanically sequenced gear doors, dual servo rudder system, steerable tail wheel and a plastic molded gun detail.  Other small accessories are provided to complete the model including tools.

With a span of 1200mm, the Bf.110 is bigger than other Durafly warbirds and purposely so. This approximate scale means it won't look out of place amongst its contemporaries on the ground or in the air. The Bf.110 requires just a 2200mah 3s lipo to fly on, maintaining good power and performance throughout the speed range and respectable flight times of approximately 7 minutes. It's convenient too, small enough to fit in the averaged sized car, yet big enough to give it real presence and authority in the air. Getting into the air is not a problem either. Thanks to the counter rotating props, steerable tail wheel and powerful set-up the Bf.110 will be off the ground straight and true in a relatively short distance, on paved or short grass surfaces. The Bf.110 is a very different model in the air being that it's a twin with that unique sight and sound you only get with multi engined aircraft. In every other way she behaves much like other Durafly warbirds in that she is a very stable, well balanced and an enjoyable model to fly. Turns will benefit from rudder input for those looking for more refined manoeuvres, but the Bf.110 is equally happy being banked and yanked around the sky at full speed or less. All manner of sport/scale aerobatics are well within the realm of the Bf.110's capabilities at the higher end of the throttle range, yet lower the throttle and she'll behave equally well for both slow flight and landings.

Durafly prides itself on bringing more unusual models to market and our Bf.110 is no exception. If you are looking for a well behaved introduction to multi engine flying with scale looks that's easy to assemble, is very rewarding to fly, and has a full compliment of spare parts, then the 1200mm Durafly Messerschmitt Bf.110 should be at the top of your list.

Everything looked great until I discovered the lt aileron servo dead. Went round and round with HK, the best they could do was $5 credit for a new servo. Two problems with that, where do you buy a revers travel servo and you have to tear/unglue three separate pieces of the wing to replace the servo as the wiring is buried in the wing. I offered to send back the entire wing for a replacement but no go. Have since done the wing tear down and installed a donor servo from another airframe(reverse travel). Opened up the bad servo and it was burned up inside??? The quality of the rest of the aircraft seems quite good, hope to do the maiden within the next couple weeks. Since I bought mine I see the price has gone from $125 to $103, go figure.

I am not sure if anything has been improved on the model since the other user's review but...
Plane was easy to balance perfectly with a 2200 3S and 65mm back from leading edge. The plane seems plenty fast at half throttle and blazing at full. It does like to stall in the turns if not done wide enough. Do not use too much elevator (expo helps here...15pcnt). Not a 7 minute flight as advertised in the manual, more like a 5-5.5 minute.

If trimmed right, this baby does insanely scale low speed/low altitude bombing runs.

Be aware this plane comes in HOT for landings. Make sure you have plenty of room to bleed off speed. Once he lands though you can turn almost right away without tipping over, the landing gear is wide and stubby enough, not like my Trojan and Spitfire.

The Durafly Messerschmitt Bf. 110 has outstanding handling and is very strong to outwit hard landings etc.

Great flying and very beautiful scale war-bird.. My problem with HK is why I have to settle for poor quality control.. This airplane came with dead tail wheel servo which I had to replace at addition expense and one of the two motor shafts was untapped to accept spinner mounting nut.. When you purchase from HK you had better be prepared to accept less than 100pcnt of the plane to be working even though they already have 100pcnt of your money from the purchase. I often think it is like Russian Roulette when you open a kit trying to guess what parts are not going to work properly and/or be completely missing from your order......

Hi guys, this is a real cool plane. A few minor niggles, cockpit didn't seat well and one engine with too much downthrust. Both easy fixes. Now for the good part, I have repainted in desert camo of the JG26 1942, added the ventral gun pod, see the picture in my photo library. Good flying

No problems with shipping. No serious problems with assembly, as notes on other posts the wing spare will need some fitting. Problem on maiden, used suggested 2200 3s battery and hit published CG with battery fully forward, however the plane was tail heavy in flight. First flight resulted in stall to the right and crash. Rechecked and second attempt resulted in same. Result from first two attempted flights were dings and dents, as well as a broken gear door hinge on port side. Not a replaceable part unfortunately. Had to add 1oz of nose weight to balance. Flys steady enough, not very fast even at full throttle, about 6 min flight time at full throttle, needs to be flown at full throttle to maintain airspeed. Difficult to trim with twin rudders. Starboard side rudder servo stripped on forth flight. OK first twin but a little disappointed for Durafly product.

this is 2nd time trying to put this in they pulled it because it was bad! see if it goes threw this time. the wings need longer spares they will break off at where the cross is on both wings, the motors the shafts are very weak bend real easy, elevator is weak bends very easy, rudder servo melted on 3rd flight caused it to crash never had one do that or first time anyone at rc field also never seen one melt in flight like this one came threw foam. gear doors are not avaiable no parts for them even when it shows on replacement booms i ordered shows them on those but when you get there not on. after 12 flights it looks very bad from all the problems.the gear doors ripped off on 2nd flight do not like grass fields.it flies fine but not off of grass.

I received this model last week in good order and condition. I must say, I didn't know what to expect after reading the previous discussion/reviews on this item, but I am happy to say that HK have rectified the cockpit/pilot issue. The pilots are both now glued and screwed (with ply underneath) and all the servos, lights and retracts (on my model) are working fine. The only issue I had was with the ply wing spar. It is 'still' too tight and I had to do some sanding work to make it fit. The only other negative for me was that there was not enough detail in the instruction manual, especially if you compare with the 'Durafly Spitfire' manual. It lacks detail on the leads/connections, there is no instruction (at all) on how to install the exhaust stackers (up/down) and the photos are way too small. Overall though, a great looking model with a lot of detail at a great price, thanks HK!!
