The Supermarine Spitfire is THE defining aircraft of World War 2 and following on from the Mk1a the Mk5 represents the pinnacle of early Spitfire development.   After the defensive campaign of the Battle of Britain, the RAF, RCAF and the USAAF moved steadily onto the offensive and the Mk5 became part of the spearhead of overall allied strategy, including air operations over France, North Africa and later during the Italian campaign.   Better armed, faster and more maneuverable, the Mk5 gave the RAF and other allied air forces including the USAAF, a decisive advantage over the Luftwaffe’s Bf109E and was on equal terms with the Bf109F, battling both of these axis aircraft in the ETO (European Theatre of Operations) as well as in the air war over the deserts of North Africa and the Mediterranean between 1941 and 1943.  Loved by its pilots and feared by the enemy, the Mk5 Spitfire’s reputation as a thoroughbred fighter was hard earned and well deserved and it will always have a special place in military aviation history as a result.

Durafly’s Mk5 Spitfire really does the full-size aircraft the justice it deserves.  Not only has Durafly produced a beautiful and accurate rendition of the Mk5 Spitfire, it brings to market (for the first time ever) a tribute to the gallant pilots of both the RAF and the USAAF thanks to the multiple and historically accurate national markings that have been supplied in the box.  But it's not just offering you the choice of these unique and authentic markings, the attention to detail in this plug and fly model is simply outstanding for a model in this scale and that is matched only by its superb flying performance and grace in the air.  The Durafly Mk5 is designed for 3s and 4s setups and boasts a range of features typical of Durafly’s exacting standards, especially when it comes to warbirds, including, scale parts, faithfully reproduced split flaps, a scale outline, fine surface detail and a premier paint finish along with an operating LED navigation system.

With this fantastic Mk5, Durafly has designed and produced not just the best, but the ultimate model Spitfire available in this scale and when you get your hands on one, you’ll know that’s no idle boast.

Excellent flying plane / Really satisfied

Nov 15, 2019

I was astonished how good this plane flies. In my opinion, the construction of this plane is excellent.
I fly it out of a mowed grass runway, but which has some mouseholes and some plants (broadleaf plantain?). On this runway, the plane has the tendency to come sometimes on the nose, so I pull the elevator a little during the start and as a consequence it takes off a little bit early with low speed. Some other planes would react by banking strongly to the left directly after take-off. This plane doesn't.
I found that during the flights, it forgives a few pilot errors. I mean in my opinion it is difficult to bring it to stall (which is good).
During the landing and before touching the ground, it glides very well.
The plane is very stable.
I have taken 1 star out for the quality because:
- the pilot figure was not fixed in the cockpit (not screwed).
- the motor was not properly assembled, so the rotor was rubbing on the magnets. I have detected it as I assembled the plane for the first time. I have disassembled and reassembled the motor and I fly the plane with it.

Stunning value

A great fun fighter size Spitfire . Looks amazing and terrific value . Only one minor gripe , my pilot is not stuck and loose in the canopy. Still trying to figure out how fix him without damaging the canopy or body work. Otherwise superb.

Great Plane

Jul 04, 2019

This 1100mm series of planes from Durafly and HK is amzing they ply so well, this one in specific is super fast on a 4s flies super locked in and for the price it is hard to beat. The build was quick and straight forward and everything worked as intended out of the box. This has quickly became one of my favorite flying planes.

Boggles abandoned post

Jun 27, 2019

Received my shiny new spitfire this afternoon. Lovely finish and very well packaged, sadly biggles in the cockpit did not travel so well (not sick everywhere, but tried to escape), fortunately the canopy doesn’t open otherwise he could be sunning himself on a beach in Skegness, drinking ice cold white lightning (well his top half anyway)
Haven’t assembled it yet although if it is anything like the other durafly models I have, it will be a doddle.
Will add flying review later (after biggles has been reassigned)

Great Quality

Jul 21, 2017

Coming from the Big "F" named foamies i was kind of skeptical about the Durafly but was pleasantly surprised of the Great Quality of this warbird.
Paint is top notch , foam is in perfect form and the details are amazing! Durafly even put protective plastic on the fuselage where the wing connects to prevent pressure damage .
Great job Durafly .

Fantastic Spitfire!

Dec 31, 2016

This is my first Durafly plane, and I went into it not knowing what to expect. It went on sale for $155.50 so I couldn't turn it down. The plane arrived in perfect shape, no shipping damage. Assembly impressed me in the small details. Wing screws that are machine screws instead of wood screws. ESC installed, not just flopping around on the motor wires. Paint is stunning, it almost doesn't look like a foam plane. Beautiful details everywhere you look.

Flying it is a real treat! It has gobs of power, and no bad habits. It's fast as you'd ever want, and doesn't show any tendency to tip stall at slow speeds. The lights are a nice touch, but the flaps are the best part. Even at the extreme angle the manual calls for, there is no tendency for the plane to balloon up when they are deployed. I have no elevator mixed in with the flaps, either. The biggest and best surprise is how well this plane handles grass. It's just a non event with no tendency to nose over on takeoff nor landing.

They got this plane right. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. I have FMS, Roc Hobby, Flightline and E-Flight planes. The Durafly is, hands down, the best of the bunch!
