DYS has been a world class manufacturer for years and one of the first authorized AlexMos manufacturers to adopt the BaseCam control system. Now they offer a GoPro class 3 Axis gimbal for the popular smaller range of MultiRotors.

There is no contest between the look of aerial video taken with a 3 axis verses a 2 axis gimbal.  The problem is 3 axis gimbals have been reserved for the larger cameras and more powerful MultiRotors. Now the Smart3 brings the power of AlexMos and BaseCam to the GoPro class of Multirotors. The benefits of the added 3 axis allows you to fly the camera not just the multirotor, with advanced features as Yaw lock and Yaw follow modes. All 3 axis’ can be controlled via the RC transmitter and various types of modes selected on the fly-live.

If you are ready for PRO level results but do not want to invest in a huge multirotor and gear… look no further then the DYS smart3.

Just got this, worked pretty decent out of box no tune or anything. Sometimes it does not face the correct yaw direction, but if you push it into place it corrects it. I have not gone into the computer to tune or edit (may be something i can work out). Doesn't seem to need too much of a calibration out of box, but will be doing one soon to make sure. I would recommend as it seems to be a decent 3 axis gimbals on the cheaper side compared to other models. Time will tell though if it lasts (crossing my fingers), will update if anything major comes up.

A good gimball, out of the box settings were OK, did some tuning and it works great, especially for the price, i have seen a lot of more expensive gimbals not having the performance of thisone. The Alexmos board gives you so many options that you can make this gimball do almost anything

Nice gimbal for the price, carbon all round with a couple of exceptions like the gopro holder. Yaw axis works well unless connected to my computer, in which case it only works sometimes. Using it with a gopro 4 black and need about 5g of weight on the pitch motor to balance it out. The reason i dont give it 5 stars is the description labels dji phantom support, but it can only be mounted to a phantom by two standoffs. and then it hangs too low so you need bigger landing gear, preferably retracts. Might mount this on my Bumblebee frame.

The manual is not very informative. I would like to know the pin assignment on the controller. Also the orientation of the imu sensor.
Eventually I was able to figure it out thanks to RCG. Making it work, updating the software was than possible. Sometimes the third axis (rudder ) does not work.

Do not waste your money! Mine worked fairly good a couple of flights; after that the gimbal started to jump and shake like crazy. I reinstall firmware, but never managed to make it work.

Very nice Gimbal. Had lot of trouble setting up initially as I reset the default setting and nothing seems to work after and it was lying on the table for the first 3 months, almost giving up. Then, it happened. Had been using for around 9 months now. Very happy with it. Just have to check the scrub screw that holds one of the motor as this sometimes become loose causing jello.

I bought this gimbal thinking it would provide smooth video. It does to a certain extent, a lot of tinkering with Pids and firmware. I find firmware v2.3 seems to work best, with a gopro 4. I would have rather saved my cash and bought the Feiyu tech, which is a lot more expensive.

it's pretty much a plug and play gimbal as written in the description. Mine worked well out of the box but to get it running perfectly, you have to put in a lot of time and effort.
I'm looking forward to the next testflights.
