Well like most folks say you have to balance this bad boy. I ran it up with my 1400kv Inrunner before balancing on 6 cells and it vibrated so much I couldn't put it past half throttle plus it moved the test bench across the floor paving stone and all.

Before I put this in the model I was getting 1278 watts and 54amps on 6s
I then got it installed and tested it in the model and got an additional 100 watts the amps went up to 58 too.

Jepe Fast foam Mirage 2000 weighs 5.5 pounds with glass so it should perform rightly. Haven't flown it just yet though so we shall see.

I ran it up today after checking fan for balance. Mine was OK out of the box. It certainly has some serious thrust on 5 cells and the HK 2850KV motor, it's not a toy like the 70mm units. Easy to fit motor too.

if you well balanced the fan reinforce the motor mount and add a intake lip like I did from a extra one that I had from a midi fan with a arc motor 36/75/1680 kv you will get around 2400 watts and below 110 amps on 6s 5000 mah 35/50 c

It runs very well after balancing. Great thrust! It has also a very nice sound (almost like a real turbine at high rpm).

Keep an eye on the balance when you mount it !!!

Upon balancing, I found that the hole that is bored through the center of the fan was drilled at a slight angle. The hole is centered correctly in the rear of the hub but slightly off-center in the front. Needless to say this made balancing a bit more interesting.

Materials and moldings seem to be of good quality.

The price makes the extra effort worthwhile if you are on a budget.

Using this EDF with a Novak HV-Pro 5.5 system. Didn't mount it yet but was able to pull 44A peak (measured with the Turnigy wattmeter) with 4s lipo...and that wasn't at full throttle since it's scary when you're just holding it. This is the only 5mm shaft EDF that I could find on HobbyKing, but I'm glad I bought it. It's a shame that the max diameter is 39mm when the Mamba Monster series is 40mm.
