Used this with the Turnigy 2836 3200kv motor and 3S.
The sound is really nice actually, more "jet" than "woosh". It didn't need balancing though the motor mount seems a little weak and probably need reinforcement.
About the motor-edf combination: It pulls about 65 amps and give about 6-700 g of thrust in bench, slightly lower mounted in my machine due to the smaller outlet. The motor tends to overheat, so a lower kv motor with 4S might be a good idea.
I said "used" because I crashed my plane at 150 km/h which made the probably very hot motor to push itself through the mounting holes (again, the motor mount is a bit fragile).
All and all, I really enjoyed this EDF, but I should have choosed a lower kv motor with 4S instead of 3S.

I put value only two crowns , just because it comes with 3,17mm shaft .And the fact that the mini motor for this fan they all have 4mm shaft ,Which means you got buy extra shaft for cost of $5.99 .doesnt add up . Other wise great fan . PS i dont want to open the hole to 4mm not advise able .

To get most out of fan you most close down the shroud rotor gap using duct tape or balsa wood. The gap allows to much air to pass buy making too much turbulence and you must put some foam lip or something in the inlet especially at high kv speeds.

55oz of thrust on 3s\2200\40c\88amps, 4100kv cyclone motor

This EDF is awesome! I put this baby on a Hobbico Diablo and replaced the stock 55mm EDF. I made a custom underbelly mounting and tube using a 2 Liter pop bottle,so the odd size of this fan didn't matter much.I used a 2845 HXT 2200 kv motor on 4s 40c 2200 mAh Turnigy. It gives good thrust with the aggressive blades.I'm trying a 55 batt, but not sure if the motor will get too hot.

Great fan unit super strong, it just doesn't fit any regular Jets, this brand and size fit well for 90mm and not an upgrade for 70mm too much foam removeal
