Received two units, and both impellers flew off on first test at about 30 power (2S), one impeller smashed the other ok. Could not power more than 40 on both engines before vibrations took overhand, need to replace shafts with better, harder, and straight steel shafts before testing again (and buying at least one more impeller). Not worth the money, buy the GWS ones.

I bought 2 of these and the shaft has bended after 2 minutes.

Totally disgusted.

Absolute garbage - don't waste your money. Mine fell apart just after starting it and broke.

Mine was not balanced and vibrated excessively at full power. The thin hub of the impeller failed which allowed me to replace the impeller with the 30 mm GWS which is the same as the one that it comes with except I reamed mine out which keeps the center of the hole in the center. Initially it did not have sufficient power to fly a 65 gm plane. With the new impeller it runs much more smoothly and quieter. I have not test flown it since.

EDF30

May 05, 2009

I ordered 2 of those items and created a small A10 around them. A lot of effort and a lot of money for nothing. The first time at full power the fan hit the shroud and broke. Ordered a new fan, balanced it ( very difficult! )and flew again. For 2 minutes all went well untill one fan made a lot of noise and stopped. Motor and fan proved to be completely loose in the shroud.

Please don't sell these kind of products without testing them. After more than 70 orders this is my first complaint and disapointment in United hobbies!

I bought 2 of these fans, and designed and built a A10 for them. A lot of effort with very poor results. The first time on full power the fan hit the shroud, and one blade broke. Ordered a new fan, balanced it very carefully and put it in the plane again. After 2 flights the other fan became very noisy untill it stopped. Completely out of balance. A lot of money for so very disapointing results.

Stock setup static test results for this unit are:

* Voltage 7.8V (from a 2200 20C 2S Lipo to ensure no sag)

* Amps 2.9A

* Thrust 44g

* Temp 31C

I have made a thread listing fixes for anyone that may have one or more of the problems that these fan units have:

bad balanced

Apr 15, 2009

Hello,

i turn an adapter to get the bearing near the rotor, then the EDF ist nearly perfect balanced.

The long shaft oscillates around the axis cause the big distance between bearing and rotor.
