This is my first edf jet and I'm love it. I modded with rudder servo and its controlable like a acro plane. I think its a very good choice for this price!

One of the best looking and flying small edf jets and great value. My current model is the 2nd one that I have owned and I have upgraded the powerplant using Hobbyking 3500 Kv brushless motor/fan & 45 amp ESC EDF combo (product No 3207)
I have cut just behind cockpit down to deck aft for approx 150mm and made a new battery compartment which now houses a nanotech 2500Mah 40-90c 4 cell battery and this thing now flys at a terrific pace with vertical flight till out of site with ease. The ESC that comes with this combo is quite a bit larger than the std one so a little bit of modification is required to fit it. I added a couple of 8mm strips of balsa to underside of body and made a plywood screwed on lid to house the deeper ESC but the small amount of work involved for this mod makes the model.Flight time of 4 minutes using 80-100pcnt throttle is now possible. You definatley need to use batteries with 40C plus discharge to make this combo work.

Great value kit. Good detail for the price, looks awesome in the air. Setup with out of the box motor and esc and using Spektrum radio with OrangeRC reciever and Turnigy 4S 1800mah. Flies great, quite stable once trim is sorted. Didnt use landing gear as excellent for throw launch and belly land. Underside including intakes is thicker foam than most small jets so doesnt mind ditching in grass or dirt. Have no upgraded to 70mm 5 blade EDF unit with Turnigy 2836 3200kv, still using same battery. Flies really well with increased acceleration and way higher top end. Probably the fastest scale EDF weve had.

I just maidened the hornet today. The only let down of this plane is the undercarriage. All I can say is don't even bother attaching it, just hand launch it. It has more than enough grunt to take off without much effort in a hand launch.
The first time I tried to take this aircraft off it got 3m down the runway before the nose wheel broke off. After another 3-4 attempts I managed to get the aircraft off. That was the only time I managed to get it off with the nose wheel.
Other then that I wish it had a rudder, and a bigger battery capacity. But I knew that going in.
Flight wise, it's great. It looks really good in the air. Even better without the undercarriage. It's a bit twitchy if you leave the rates at linear. I recommend 40pcnt
Lands well too. It just glides in nicely for a belly landing.

I was pleased with this plane came well packed. Instructions could have been better but they will do. everything went together fine feels solid.

A couple modes to do right out ot the box are. Elevator rods need reinforcing. I used a carbon fiber tube cut to length and CA'd the link to one end and made a z bend on the other. no flex now.

If you have a 6ch RX I would do the following. cut the servo wires at the Y and crimp your own connector on. That way each servo has its own channel allowing for mixing and better throw control of elev and ail.

Taking off from the ground in grass is just about impossible. Hand launch is the way to go but has to be just right . The plane is a little under powered but it will still fly and is a lot of fun.

Esse f-18 voa muito bem, mas tem algum problema na eletrnica, pois o meu e de mais 2 amigos incendiou em pleno vo. Se for comprar sugiro substituir a eletrnica original do mesmo.

I only managed one flight with this before the EDF cut out. Not sure exactly what happend but on the second flight the motor cut for about 2 seconds then returned for another 30 then cut again for good. The last cut was during a turn and I was not abe to recover.

The one flight I did manage was interesting (this is my first edf). Seemed to fly and handle very well as long as I kept WOT. Try to bring it down to 2/3 or 1/2 during turns and it would drop like a stone. I flew it with a 40-90c battery so it should have been the maximum possible speed from the stock setup. I tried to do a loop but it had nowhere near enough power even with a considerable dive to gain speed.

Bought this in place of the FMS/Airfield F-18 (which has the same dimensions). The paint used on the Art-tech (which I believe this is) is quite thin, and crumbled off very easily. The plane comes with a S-type bend push rod/link for the elevator which in itself flexes quite easily under load, so you have uneven elevator throw (it was good in concept, as the elevator servos rotate in opposite directions, and the S-type link was to avoid having to use a stock servo reverser - something which can easily be done via a programmable tx). Plane flew smoothly - a bit underpowered, but not an issue if you're new to EDFs. The belly paint all but striped away on my first grass landing which I felt was quite mild and not fast. Having actually bought the FMS/Airfield F-18 aswell, the things which are improved on that model: no S-bend type links on the elevator but straight links for equal elevator throw, canopy pops off for access to battery bay (I had to cut into the Art-tech to get a 3s 2200mah to fit), much sturdier paint, also better designed wheels.
