well my new £49 mini f4u corsair arrived about 1 hour ago. to my dispair the centre of the box was crushed halfway down. ive had models from alfamodels cz in the check republic and their box is purpose made to be shipped to the public worldwide and you dont get this . fortunatly the only substantial damage was at the rear of the fusilage where the fairing was allmost broken off. the tailplane assembly has/had to be tied down with string and wedged with half pegs so it would glue flat, the wing has/had the same treatment. the fusilage top deck is 1cm higher than the back so will try to steam it a bit.. the tailplane is slightly bowed as well.i have the wildcat version which i fly on 2s 1000ma as its plenty fast enough for me being a bit old.it flies well in a bit of wind so that is the perpouse of getting the corsair as with small models you can pack more in the car.i easliy get 6 or more. this will have a 2s 100ma as well.hopefully it will fly as good as the wildcat. looking to get the mini seafury next.may goto the warehouse to get it so theres no chance of damage. overall value 5 quality is 4,very good but parts need checking. needs addressing very large dont crush lables and a more substantial box or collect from warehouse option

I had really good luck with an under hand throw with some a** behind it. 4s around 1/2 throttle. 3s a little more. Great plane and a blast to rip around the park

Arrived 2 days after ordering from the Aus warehouse. Slight damage to rear of fuselage and propeller. Aileron servos have not been fitted square in wing so servo arms are rubbing on slot in wing. Otherwise a nice looking kit. Make sure you run over factory adhesive as the job looks as if it was rushed. look forward to the maiden. Also the speedy is only rated for 2-3S so an updated speedy required for 4S operation. Nano-tech 850 3S is a perfect fit behind outrunner. Nice little pilot is also included and 2 spare props.

This is my second time buying this.

It is soo fun and SOOOO FAST!

THe first one I crashed about 4 times. But after the 4th, there was more glue and tape than plane. I had to retire it. I look forward to flying it again.

This is a very handy speed modell ! Works great with 4s,850mah, Nanotech. Works even greater with 3s,2200,Zippy, 40C (no matter of weight). Do not care about windy weather, neither hot temperatures. I reconmend to replace esc by 30Amp Turnigy plush or 40A HK esc, more power ! very stable and a great scale optic. I flew the first one more than 1 year (approx. 50-60 take offs). When crashed, easy to repair. Great for air races !!!

4-25-15 I just received my Funfighter Corsair today and was happy to see that the esc was upgraded to a Skywalker 30A esc from the advertised 20A BUT it clearly says on the esc that it is for 2-3s Lipos?! Come on Hobbyking. If you're going to make sure it's 4s capable then put a 4s esc in it!! I guess I'll put a Turnigy true 30A 2-4s esc in it since I'll be running it with a 1000mah, 4s, 45-90c battery. Also as others have said the elevator is bowed up on the ends. No problem I'll just put a heavy book on it to flatten it out.

My Experiences:

I did some flights with the corsair now. I tried 3s and 4s and I think its great fun with both setups. The foam quality is pretty okay and the bird looks nice, too. If its in the air, you dont see the non-scale issues very much. Im using the stock equipment and only removed the spinner, because it wasnt balanced well and looks better without!

One thing is very important:

I had a crash when a friend started the bird, because I obviously started with too much throttle...corkscrew...crash!

So my starting procedure now is like this:

A Grab the plane near the COG from the upper side,

- On 3s: Little more than half throttle and throw it in an flat angel (20)
- On 4s: Less then half throttle and same throwing technique.

Then the plane is just fun...flying like on rails...fast bur not very tricky...I love it :-)

BUT NO FULL THROTTLE STARTS!

I hope this helps you to avoid unnecessary starting-crashes!!!! Happy landings :-)

This plane is really FAST! A great little park flier. I gave it a 3 in in quality because the parts came slightly chipped, and they did not fit together well! Great plane though, flies stable and fast. I have yet to fly on a 4 cell but i will work my way up to it!
