The Grumman F9F Cougar was basically a swept wing Panther, in fact early production versions were little more than a modified Panther airframe. The new swept wing raised the Mach Number of the Panther from 0.79 to 0.86 for the Cougar but the plane came too late for Korea and the Cougar was quickly relegated to less glamorous roles, some even being converted to target drones. However, the F9F-8 version shown was the ultimate version of the Cougar, being purely a fighter and heavily armed with both Cannon and up to six missles as shown on this superb scale model.
This very scale looking EPO model very much does the Cougar justice. The very powerful alloy EDF unit is pre-fitted and supplies lots of thrust, performance is superb on 4s with plenty of vertical and it sounds amazing. Nice quality all metal retracts with sprung legs are pre-fitted for you and connected to powerful servo's. All the other high torque servos are pre-fitted, as is the fully programmable ESC and UBEC which gives the option of 4.8v or 6v output to the RX.
This is a quality scale model that is a little more involved than your average Plug N Fly in terms of build, but the reward for the RC pilot is one of the best flying foam models in the 70mm class.
