    Product Description

    The Grumman F9F Cougar was basically a swept wing Panther, in fact early production versions were little more than a modified Panther airframe. The new swept wing raised the Mach Number of the Panther from 0.79 to 0.86 for the Cougar but the plane came too late for Korea and the Cougar was quickly relegated to less glamorous roles, some even being converted to target drones. However, the F9F-8 version shown was the ultimate version of the Cougar, being purely a fighter and heavily armed with both Cannon and up to six missles as shown on this superb scale model.

    This ARF version of the Cougar comes with pre-fitted metal retracts and allows you to fit your own choice of fan and radio equipment. We would reccomend at least a 4s set up for this model.

    Just flew this model today. Was fairly easy to set up, the manual was just ok. The c of g was correct in the manual. The control throws by the manual were not correct. I found the ailerons should be 15mm up and down, and the flaperon settings around 10mm-20mm. The elevators on this model are fairly small and you need around 20mm up and down if possible. I am extremely pleased with the way it flies, rock solid in the air and the metal retracts are sturdy. I have the 1000w 68mm aluminium edf installed with a 3300 14.8 35c lipo. Balance was spot on with this system. It is fairly quick and great fun to fly. The price unbeatable. Well done hobby king!
