The Grumman F9F Panther had the distinction of winning the US Navy's first victory in the skys over Korea when it downed a Yak 9 in an air to air engagement. Developed at the end of WW2, with the maiden flight taking place in November 1947, this great looking aircraft was not in front line service for long before being replaced by newer swept wing designs, and ended it's career largely in reserve squadrons. Despite this short career in aviation terms, the Panther has many fans.

This very scale looking EPO model very much does the Panther justice, and looks amazing in the sky with those huge colourful wing tanks. The very powerful alloy EDF unit supplies lot's of thrust and sounds fantastic, performance is superb even on 3s with plenty of vertical. Being the hand-launch version gives you options for retracts if you so wish as the mounting plates are pre-fitted. All the high torque servo's are pre-fitted, as is the fully programmable ESC and UBEC which gives the option of 4.8v or 6v output to the RX.

This is a quality scale model that is a little more involved than your average Plug N Fly in terms of build, but the reward for the RC pilot is one of the best flying & looking foam models in the 70mm class.

Very poor,as a PNF it doesn't cut it as a kit.Don't expect to be able to fly this in a short time, you'll need to modify the fuselage to accept the horizontal stabiliser, hinge the rudder and modify and fit numerous other components.

Very Disappointed

Ordered this plane from the UK warehouse arrived within 48 hours in good condition. Spun the fan up & it appears in good balance & the ESC (70amp not 60amp as in add) can cope with the amps drawn. Ok its foam but it goes together well & looks good, especially with the transfers on. The instructions fall short in places but if you apply common sense the average modeler will have little problem. I will be flying it this weekend so will let you know how it flies. Regards Colin

This is my first Jet and it had its first test flight today,

This is what I have to say,

It came from the oz. warehouse very quickly and well packed.

I put it together that night it was very easy the servos were already installed and everything was pre hinged so that made life easy,

Checked the balance at 75mm loaded it with a 4500ma 3s lipo from hobby king took it out today and hand lunched it with help from a buddy and away it went! Had to put a bit of down trim in the elev and thats all,

it flys like it's on rails very nice plane I'm very happy with it, the only thing I would say is to use a 5000ma nano tech as only 5min flight out of the 4500ma 30c 3s. so I have one on its way to try I will let you know how it goes,

Highly recommend this plane for your first jet!!

Right from the outset I had my concerns about the power of this plane on its 3s power set up so I decided to go for a different 70mm motor & fan unit which I had surplus from a written off Hobbyking Alpha Jet. Although maybe not as good a quality as the Lander unit the plane comes with it seems to have more thrust on 4S & can also run on 5S.

I went for a 3000 Turnigy 5S lipo & on this setup it pulls 1080 watts at about 60 amps. It balances out perfectly with this battery & all up weighs in at 1200 grams.

What a sweet plane to fly. Unlike others who have commented on other sites I have found hand launching a dream. Maybe that's because of the extra power available. Flight performance is flawless with good speed, fast rolls & aerobatics. Even has a realistic jet whistle as it passes overhead.

With power off she glides in nice & easy for a soft belly landing. I love this plane but recommend you try 4s on the existing motor or do a power upgrade with 5s as I have done.

What a delightful aircraft, flies ever so smooth, not fast but a good speed. 5000ma battery 3c gives me around 7-8mins. Do yourself a favor and buy one , you will not regret it.
