The original Fan Trainer design has been around for years. Traditionally only available as a scratch builder plan set for a very small .049 nitro engine, we're bringing you a bigger, pre-built, electric version. With simplicity in mind, the Fan Trainer is a perfect plane to get into EDF jets without the complexity of retracts, flaps, or other systems. The 90~100mm EDF unit mounts in the aft fuselage, exposed for easy setup and maintenance.

The Fan Trainer features a molded fiberglass forward fuselage that comes pre-painted from the factory. The aft fuselage, tail, and wings are traditional built-up balsa wood construction pre-covered in vibrant plastic film. Transporting the Fan Trainer is easy thanks in part to the two piece plug in wing, which is supported by a rugged aluminum tube spar. Speaking of, the main landing gear is also a rugged aluminum unit, with the nose wheel strut of high quality spring steel. Since all major components are built for you, just a few evenings of work are all that is required to get the Fan Trainer from the bench to the field.

The shoulder wing design yields stable flight characteristics. Add the fixed tricycle landing gear and the Fan Trainer is the perfect combination of ruggedness, handling and simplicity you want in an everyday flyer.

Build review...I have not flown it yet. No fan with the kit and a 100mm unit is not sold on this site. Now I have to add some ply to mount a 90mm unit...should atleast come with a fan. Build is a bit more difficult than you might think. No holes cut to mount the tail on, bolts are very difficult to get to..I glued and bolted my tail on. Tail servo wires are hard to route Tru the tail section...I'm taping mine outside the fuse. Mounting the wings is another tough part of the build...no holes drilled...no blind nuts installed and cannot be done unless you want to re-cover the wing! Getting to the screws to mount the front wheel assembly is difficult....it just keeps going...nothing is straight forward with this thing. Price is cheap...there are many reasons why!
Someone from HK should be responsible to build each plane before it gets sold on their site, maybe then the manufactures would fix some issues.

Well, where do I start?

Got this a few days ago, unboxed, unpacked it all from its packaging and there was no fan unit. I have contacted HK about this and they are dealing with the case. The kit is actually good quality but I wouldn't put this airframe as a first time ARTF builder. There are no wing bolt holes, no cut slots for the under carriage to slot into, the battery/ RX tray in the fuse is weak and the glue joint isn't that great. I have put new epoxy glue and strengthened the whole tray. This is still in kit for as I have not got round to building her yet. I am going to run it on 2x 4s 3000mah lipos (8s) and getting a Dr mad thrust 90mm (8s) fan. I will update review once flown. Thanks HK for the great price though!
