The Firstar 2000 V2 is an attractive and superbly designed FPV platform with a a host of neat features that make this model one of the best in it's class. For toughness and reliability, the model features a blow moulded fuselage which utilizes Nylon and is virtually indestructable, the flying surfaces are all made from tough EPO foam.

From point of view of practicality, the wings are plug-in and the model requires no glue for assembly, everything simply screws together. The outer canopy is purely for looks and is used when the Firstar 2000 V2 is flown as a glider though unclips in seconds to reveal a camera ready platform, complete with a pan/tilt servo mounting hole that has been pre-moulded. This large camera platform/wing cover is secured by a quick release latch and once removed, reveals huge canopy area for mounting batteries and FPV equipment onto a pre-fitted ply plate. All servos, motor & ESC are of course pre-installed. The plug-in wings have added flaps for ultra slow landings and there is also a moulded C of G indicator on the underside of the wing for quick pre-flight checks. There is no doubt that this is a superbly designed, high quality FPV model at an excellent price. The aft fuselage features a flat mounting platform for your FPV transmitter which allows you to separate it from other sensitive radio equipment like your flight receiver.

It would be fair to say that it is more attractive to look at than most FPV platforms, not to mention much tougher, the Firstar 2000 V2 will give the RC pilot hours of enjoyment for many years to come!

Features:
• Plug and Fly - Just add radio sytem, battery and fly!
• Blow molded plastic fuselage with EPO wings and tail
• All bolt together construction, no glue required
• Easy access canopy/hatch section
• Removable canopy reveals flat FPV camera mounting base
• Aft fuselage equipment mounting platform separates FPV equipment from radio equipment
• Working wing flaps for nice slow landings
• Folding propeller allows for reduced drag, extending its gliding capability

The cadillac of FPV planes .

Nov 28, 2016

With its 2m wingspan ( 34 dm² surface ) , if you change the propulsion set for a Propdrive 35-36B => 1400Kv / 495 W with 3S at 44A (and may accept 4S , but non necessary ) turning a 8x6 prop ( the carbon Graupner 8x6 Cam Slim Prop is the top one) . You will be able to take off at more than 1.8 kgm with an initial clmb slope of more than 40% .The take off distance on wheels , on the beech , wind zero = 7m !. And it drains 4.7 A for a level flight long range cruise at a little less than 60 kmh ! And this 4.7 Amp is a true performance for the long flight time . .
This TOW ( 1850 g ) is what you get with an autopilot ( Feyiu 41AP lite and all the FPV shoBizz plant ), one 4000 mah batt ( Multistar 4AH : 3S= 250g !.. but be careful :discharge <10C=>40 Amp MAX! that makes no problem :I take off full throttle at 37Amp for less than 30") and eventualy with a noze wheel landing gear .(DIY with piano wire & Al tubing) The whole stuff for 1,85 kg ( 54,4 g/dm²)
You just have to trim the inside diameter of the engine pod .All easy . I didn't try yet ,but I am sure it can lift a 5000 mah batt (Multistar 5200 3S , 10C / 333 g => alittle more one hour flight time !). A very good airframe .

Arrived well packed, this is indeed a beautiful plane. Goes together reasonably well, there was a minor issue with joining the wings because the fittings were slightly out of line but that was soon rectified. I didn't screw the wooden slat to join the wings, I attached a piece of velcro to each of the inserts in the wings and a long piece of velcro in the wooden slat, this easily allows me to detach the wings for transit. As always with these models, there are a number of bags of screws, each in sets of varying lengths. My suggestion to HK would be to label the bags thus avoiding mis-placing the screws when fitting. Other than that, all good, this is a lovely plan to own.

Complete rubbish. Every control surface was warped. The wings were so warped they couldn't join and bolt to the fuselage. The warranty replacement wings where just as bad. Spend your hard earned $ on something else, they're are much better planes out there even at the $80 special price its not worth the frustration.

terrible, arrived with bent tail, wings did not fit together flush causing so much tension trying to get the screws in was physically impossible, and now I have to pay out of my own pocket to send the plane back. I don't care if the "company cant control shipping fees" im sending from the uk to a uk warehouse while hobbyking were in the wrong, so much for caring about the customer.

This is the first time I'm very disappointed by Hobbyking. Please remove this product from your catalog. Why? Because it is extremely badly manufactured and badly pre-assembled.
Wings, elevator and rudder have been badly plastic molded and have a banana shape. The elevator and rudder have 3 to 5mm banana shape! I can't use these parts in this state. I'll try to un-banana the parts with a thermal cleaner. Furthermore, I'll have to destroy all pre-assembled reinforcement parts of the elevator because they are not correctly inserted in the foam, causing aerodynamic perturbations. The servos are pre-glued in the wings without arm and it is impossible to secure the arms with the servo screw. The canopy is very hard to put and remove, and after five put-remove, it starts to break. Fuselage servo arms are pre-installed but not centered, causing servos to force. The user guide is not the good one (an older model) and there is no instruction about the ESC controller. There are others bad quality points, but I can't list all of them. I'm extremely disappointed : it's my Christmas present but I'll have to lost many time repairing it before it could take the air :(
If somebody doesn't believe me, I could make pictures after Christmas.

Glass fiber wing spar is weak. Replaced it with an aluminum one. Overall wing mounting system is weak. Motor mount and tower are extremely weak. All broke on a mild nose in tip stall at about 4' from the ground. All fixed easily but poorly engineered. Nothing some CA and fiber tape can't fix. Flies awkwardly under power, glides very well and very smooth. Launches and lands wonderfully just remember no slow turn-in approaches or the tip stall will get you. Awesome value for the cyber sale price of $65 but I would not buy it for the full price. I'm running no fpv gear, just two turnigy 2200mah 20c's in parallel with 68mm from LE CG. My horizontal stabilizer seems to be warped causing me to have to trim the elevator down excessively. I know its not designed to bank and yank, but with no extra gear weight I had to make an evasive maneuver when I lost orientation and it looked like the wing was about to fold. I'm not r/c pro, just sharing my experience with about 3 hours flight time on this plane.

First off. I have seen good, bad and so-so designs but this is really a worthless piece of engineering. It simply makes no point at all. The wing attack angle is too low, the motor angle points down sharply, the wing sets diagonally to the fuselage, the tail is too short...practically impossible to fly if you follow the instructions. I Managed to make it barely flyable. It took two days and with the model hanging from the cg with an industrial fan in front of it. One of the wings had more lift than the other and caused the plane to bank wildly on take off. After all that work I managed to fly it around almost decently for 20 minutes despite the inherent instability until it stalled, i gave it full throttle and the plane was pushed to the ground in a way that didn't make any sense. Worst buy ever!
