"Face it. You can page through the Aerocrafter Guide, or pick your way through the KITPLANES December issue and find a lot of homebuilts that are faster, sleeker and newer than the Fly Baby. Why not build one of them, instead of a 40-year-old-design? The answer lies in your own flying habits. Why do you want an airplane? Will you be making regular trips for long distances? Carrying passengers? Blasting up to high altitudes. Or are you just looking for a fun, knock around airplane? Something that doesn't cost much to own? Something that you can go sightseeing in without breaking the bank on fuel costs. Something more substantial than an ultralight or ultralight-based design.

Then maybe...MAYBE...a Fly Baby might be the plane for you" ~ Unofficial Fly Baby Homepage

The Fly Baby is a single-seat, open cockpit, folding-wing monoplane that was originally designed in 1960 to compete in the first (and so far, only) EAA design competition. It is built primarily of wood, with fabric covering. Most are powered by Continental A-65, C-75, C-85, or O-200 engines. Performance is sprightly; a bit better than that of, say, an Aeronca Champ.

As a sport scale model, our Fly Baby EP is just like its full scale brethren. Built of all wood, having a fiber glass cowl, and even flying wires, we have re-created Pete Bowers famous design just for you. Looking for that fun knock about plane for shooting touch and goes, maybe a lazy loop or roll thrown in the mix? Our Fly Baby EP might just be the plane you are looking for.

Unlike the full scale, our Fly Baby comes pre-built and covered. All you need to do is complete final assembly, drop in your motor, electronics, battery and you're ready to go! This model features a two piece plug-in wing with the bolts accessed through the magnetically secured top hatch. This also gives ample access to the large battery tray which is designed to fit a wide range of batteries. Scale flying wires, rugged aluminum landing gear, light foam wheels, and a complete hardware package including all pushrods round out this model.

Being pre-built, the Fly Baby can be completed in just one or two short evenings of work. Going to the flying field is a treat when you take your Fly Baby. The ample wing area and light weight mean it is a docile flying plane, something you can relax and enjoy.

It va nice when hung on the wall of the garage. But are you going to fly with it, so I would recommend that you replace the wing spars that comes with the kit to new in better plywood.
For one of my wing spars went off the air when I flew , resulting in irreparable damage model: O

Best regards
