The Hobbyking Flying Fish is a super tough EPO seaplane that will take little time to assemble but give you hours of fun. The 9g servo''s are pre-installed, decals are applied, most of the work is simply mounting the tailplane and motor. The 1pc removable wing make for easy transportation and there are plenty of features that make this a practical flying boat, such as RX and servo''s kept well away from any possible water ingress, a slide in Lipo mount under the canopy, the sturdy wing floats and the rudder, which is long enough to be immersed in water for steering your model into the air and of course, back to shore!

After waiting several weeks, the plane arrived with minor box damage and no damage to the plane. it is a good looking bird that needed just a few tweaks to make it work. Flying off my Bro in law's lake in Montana, it flys as advertised and as reviewed. We swapped the power to a nice Axi and the plane really flys. Takeoffs and landings are neat and clean and the taxi is simple. Good plane.

further modifications to the fish were the installat.ion of a fixed trycycle undercarriage, with 35mm lightweight wheels at the rear and 25 mm at the nose. the floats were modified by utilising circular servo output discs with the brass antivibration mount inserts as wheel bearings inserted into a cutout in the floats to act as slim wheels in the floats the axel unit is epoxyed into the float, this prevents the wing tipping over on takeoff. it is not nessesary to have a steerable nosewheel as the the rudder is effective enough for corrections during takeoff.

this and the previous modifications have produced a practical anphibian which is effective on the water and also from well mown grass strips

giving a good all round and very attractive sport model

Can't tell U folks a whole lot about the flight of plane because one minute into flight motor smoked and quit. Now going through hell trying to get it replaced. I have bought hundreds of dollars off these guys and this is first problem. Being a repeat customer I expected better treatment than I am getting but I guess I am just another number!!!

2nd june 2011, weather perfect forflying from the lake, 3mph winds,

taxied around to check steering, good control as rudder is in the water,

lined up into wind and eased throtte open until ailerons were effective,

once wings were level, open up to full power, once speed had built up,

slight back pressure on the elevator had a smooth climb out.

keep a little power on for landing and flare out for a smooth landing without a rapid decelaration.

repeated this three times, perfect day!!!

this is an excelent model and well worth the 5star rating, it tracks very true and has good gliding potential, it will slope soar in 10 mph winds, and will penetrate the wind quite easy.

the motor supplied was not powerfull enough, however when fitted with a 250watt 3s outrunner it has all the power for loops ,rolls ,

the mainplane is afixed with 2 bolts and one screw at the leading edge, the screw fixing was replaced, with a 4m anchor nut epoxied into the wing to facilitate a 3 bolt attachment.

the canopy was cut to enable the fitting of a 3s 2200mah lipo

these were the only alterations to produce a functional, and reliable model.

i have not tried it on water yet ( waiting for better weather ) but am very confident it will perform well
