The NEW Co Pilot II systems represent the culmination of years of cumulative technological development and manufacturing knowledge in commercial flight stabilization.  FMA's patented Infrared thermo-technology for semi-automomous control of R/C model aircraft has an outstanding reputation, with ten's of thousands of units sold.  Adding an additional level of safety to model aircrafts of all types, the time-proven concept has enabled pilots from all over the world to fly with confidence, learn new aerobatic manuevers, protect their investment in case of electronic or mechanical failure, and assist modelers of all experience and skill levels to just feel more confident when flying.

The CPII is far more than a simple wing leveling device.  Yes, it will bring your aircraft to straight and level flight from any attitude simply by centering the control sticks, but the new system includes features and enhancements that go far beyond its predecessors.  Fueled by the amazing new IRNet (Infrared network) for wire-free control of on-board avionics, setup has never been simpler.  Just point the the wireless IRNet programmer at the aircraft, access the main menu option "Quick Setup" and Co Pilot II's advanced computer system walks you through a series of simple questions pertaining to how you have chosen to install the various components such as main sensor, vertical sensor, as well as how you have chosen to configure remote ON/OFF functions and new Flight Modes.  Yes, the CPII includes all new 3D modes that can easily and safely enable you to learn or practice new maneuvers like inverted flight, knife edge, or vertical hover, all at the flip of a switch.  If the aircraft falls out of the intended attitude, Co Pilot II knows it.  It will de-activate the 3D mode, and activate level flight mode or Co Pilot OFF, whichever you have chosen.

The new smaller and lighter digital sensors and computer modules also allow for installation across a wide number of platforms.  The system supports any conceivable aircraft configurations from airplanes, to heli's, to VTOL; any aircraft which require no more than 4 channels to operate pitch and roll.  This includes support split or differential ailerons, flapperons, all forms of CCPM helicopters and more!

includes the vertical sensor which will allow automatic and continuous, in-flight weather calibration, the added intelligence of having the aircraft always recover from inverted flight to level flight by rolling the aircraft, and access to all 3D flight modes.  Combo 2 also does not include the PC interface which means you will not be able to access automatic firmware updates using a personal computer running Windows operating systems.

Ratings:
System will operate on normal R/C voltage range of approximately 3.5v to 6v.
Power Source: System is powered from your radio's receiver.
Outputs: Please be advised the CPII systems are designed to fit small helicopters without any additional components.  For lager heli's and/or fixed wing aircraft, you may require standard aileron extensions for optimal placement of vertical and/or main sensors.
Applications: Adds safe and effective flight stabilization to any R/C model aircraft for assistance in learning new aerobatic manuevers, protecting your investment in case of electronic or mechanical failure, and assisting modelers of all experience and skill levels to just feel more confident when flying.
Radio: The Co Pilot 2 is not an RF device and therefore it will operate with any type or brand of R/C radio system including AM, FM/PPM, PCM on any frequency as well as all 2.4GHz spread spectrum systems.
Features: Co Pilot II includes embedded stick priority with adjustable gain which contributes to a super-natural flying "feel"

First of all. WOW, what a price!

I paid over $250 including shipping to get my CPII from the US distributer. So for what is accepted as the best value for money stabilizer it is amazing

As for the unit, it is ok. I found it really frustrating to fly with. Even with stick priority at maximum, the CPII would still try and control my bird when I was moving sticks at hover, this makes a lot of simple turns trickier.

Awesome for learnign to h

have not tried it yet, only play around with the programming unit. It came with the AAA batteries. The sensors are pretty small. They look bigger in the picture.

Fitted to a JS90 nitro heli, works very well. When the CPII is active the fell of the heli is a little off putting due to fighting the CPII. With the unit off and 7deg angle set it works with the pilot very well and you don't really notice it in the back ground but when you let the sticks go it sits in a nice hover with slow drift.
VERY VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS!

The FMA4 has to be the best training system,it gives the novice the confidance to fly
Works as advertised and easy to set up
Had a first time novice flying by himself imediately
And it is great for landing assist as it holds the aircraft on course while you reduce throtle and presto a perfect landing
Best thing ever made for rc flying

Got this for a new build HK 600.Fitted on tail boom on the horizontal stabilizer platform. Used HK ST-FOAM-DB, Peel-n-stick foam tape. Got it all mounted and set up. Read the manual which all made sense save for the trim and angles setup which required a couple of reads to sink in. After about 9 cautious hover and trim episodes had it pretty much set up then the main sensor popped off the mounting foam about a foot off the ground and that nearly caused a disaster but I was able to get down in one piece. Have since fixed the sensor with cable ties as well so its not going anywhere the boom does not go first.

Took it out today and it flew and stabilized as advertised. Now it is a matter of adjustments (CPII and flying style) until I am happy with how it works. So far so good.

Tips
Trim out fully before you fit
Firmly attach the sensors, cable ties for total security and test on the ground with hand heat for correct reaction.
Ajust gyro gain if setting through CPII until you are happy.
Ajust CPII gains to eliminate any nodding etc similar setup for gyros to get a solid non wagging lock
Ajust trims to get a stable hover as required (each flight ?)
Start flying and start adjusting stick priorities until you are happy.

All in all looks like a good, solid heli saving product.

If you are going to fit yourself you will at least be able to hover tail in and trim out before you can
