plane arrived well packed, a little bit to well packed as wings have a nice curve, not twisted, just curved.

plane goes together well and looks good.

replaced self tappers on engine mount with nuts and bolts, checked and tightened engine bolts. checked hinges and added ca where required.

plane flew very well. looked fantastic in the air, flying low and slow.

if you like the look of this plane, buy it. at this price, it is a steal!
just give it a good going over!

Great plane and flies well. The undercarriage needs atttention. Great landing and nice to "grease" in on landing. However, I need a new engine and can't find a replacement on HK. Anyone can help.

The motor mounting disintegrated allowing the motor to rip the winding off - crash.
One aileron became detached on flight - crash.
The dihedral brace is far too small.
There are no spares available so the nose cowling is not replaceable.
I would give it a miss.

I was surprised with the quality of this plane especially the covering. There were a couple of issues which one needs to be aware of. On my first take off I gave it heaps of throttle and the engine mount disintegrated, the motor spun in the cowling and the wires were so damaged I had to buy a new motor. I have now fitted a metal motor mount. On my second outing I hand launched and flew a few circuits before it started to dip violently left. On my landing approach about 2 m up it again violently dipped left and crashed. The left aileron had become detached. The CA hinges did not show much signs of glue. It would be better with pinned hinges.

It has big aileron control surfaces and I flew with 65pcnt Dual Rate. I had 70pcnt on the elevator and 80pcnt on the rudder. I had 30pcnt expo on all. Any more than this and I think you would be fighting it.

I fitted a red spinner for a more authentic look.

i agree with chrisr this is a very well designed plane and it went together perfectly but one thing to watch is the way you mount the rudder and elevator horns because the control rods come out differently so you must set them in the right place.

Finished my build. It's a really really nicely made aircraft, and I was pleasantly surprised. Out of the dozens of aircraft I've had and built, this is the first balsa/ply pre-built. Even the skin job was well done. Wings came straight as an arrow and the rest is really flat and nice. I added a loop/hinge at the base of the rudder to support the tail wheel... needed something there, or damage was waiting to happen.
With proper balance, and a Turnigy 2200 3s, there was no weights added, but the battery is mounted completely ahead of the main spar, and not in the tray slot as seen. I added a foam block behind the firewall and slide the battery in through the canopy, but into a fwd position. WITH battery, the flying weight is actually 890 grams, not the 700g they say. I put a GWS 1060 prop on it and it goes vertical anytime, no problems.
Also added radio mixing for the dual aileron servos, and that gets me flaps as well using the radio mix etc. Excellent plane, great job HK!
