This Telemetry radio set allows you to link to a flight controller such as our HK Pilot Mega 2.5 or Multiwii AIO via a USB equipped device such as a computer, laptop or tablet supporting a USB connection (OTG). The Radio set not only lets you see live data such as live GPS position overlaid on a map (if the flight controller has the GPS option) to system voltage, heading, waypoint navagation even artificial horizon and so much more, using open source MAVlink based ground station software. You can even fly your aircraft with a joystick via your computer and update settings live! Or just use it for your DIY projects that needs a wireless Serial interface. This kit offers a great low price, longer range (approx one mile with supplied antennas) and superior performance. The system utilizes the 433Mhz band and provides a full-duplex link using HopeRF's HM-TRP modules running custom, open source, firmware.

The SiK firmware includes a bootloader that permits radio firmware upgrades over the serial interface, and configuration of system parameters. Firmware upgrades and configuration are fully supported in the APM Mission Planner. Configuration is also possible through the 3DR Radio configurator and AT commands.

Interface to the module is via standard 5V-tolerant TTL serial / FT232 USB serial.

This is a review of the "HK 433MHz Radio Telemetry Kit 100mW V1.1" that I received a couple of weeks ago. The shipment arrived quickly, well packed from the International Warehouse, well done Hobby King! Another nicely done order.

The product looked good, well done PC boards, great looking parts and assembly, and I had ordered the optional cases as well. They looked great also, fit well, and snapped on very snugly - I had to use a use a tool to snap them shut, great fit.

I found a video on You Tube that showed an Australian gent successfully pairing them up, and I followed it and had the same success. My Netbook with Mission Planner software and Quadcopter with HKPilot Mega 2.7 were talking up a storm!

It seemed prudent to check the antennas, having read much pro & con about them. It turns out they were were tuned somewhat low. I used my MFJ 269 for starters, and they were too low to read. The 269 only covers 420 to 470MHz, and they were below that range.

I borrowed a VIA ECHO 1000SF antenna analyzer from a company that I consult for, and the antennas were both resonant at about 380MHz, give or take. At 433MHz, one antenna had an SWR of 9.5:1, and the other was 7.5:1. Time to Tweak!

Using C-clip pliers, I spread the bottom of the "ducky" and lifted it off of the tilt base. That exposed the piece of coax soldered to the spring that is the antenna. That is what is in

Be carefull if you are looking for long range. This item works well but at a maximum of 250 meters with supplied antennas. During gound distance test, the signal drops to zero after 100meters. Perhaps the antennas are not 433 Mhz (they are marked 2.4 Ghz but in discussions somebody says they are not 2.4 but 433, i have a doubt.

I'm using these. And they are working fine. Range could be better though. I still need to verify the range of one mile. So far I lost connection before 100meters.
Antenna connectors could be stronger, I accidentally broke the antenna connector of the ground module during transport. (remove the antennas during transport)
Today I would choose the new version because then its easier to update the firmware.

Works very well with APM2.5. Just plug and fly. Only minus is that updating the firmware on remote unit could be easier if you could plug the FTDI connector directly to the board.

This kit is awesome, i have been using it for some time now. Its stable, its plug and play even in a MAC.

I will take away a star on antenna quality, both of my antennas sounds like something is loose inside. it does work, but a bad thing is a bad thing.

Arrived quickly , but as with so many of these 3dr clones , they came supplied with 2.4Ghz antennas and not the 433Mhz ones ,

I now have to source 433Mhz ones for this kit .

overall a good price despite the shortcomings.
