Frsky have put their reliable and well-known frequency hopping ACCST technology into the new Taranis Q X7 radio system with addition of full telemetry. All the usual Taranis features are used in this radio such as Receiver Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) alerts, Real-time Flight Data Logging and receiver matching.

There is a new look case that comes in either black or white. Once again the excellent Quad Ball-Bearing Gimbals are used and it is up to you to determine what mode to set the radio to and also if you want self-centering spring loaded sticks (standard) or the usual stationary set throttle.

The Taranis mixes the power of the “OPEN TX” open-source software with an ergonomic case with 6 programmable switches (4 x 3-position, 1 x 2-position, 1 x momentary) and two twist knobs. Set up your switches and controls how you want them.

Alerts can be presented in the form of audio speech outputs, sound or vibration alerts making this extremely user-friendly. The MicroSD card slot offers unlimited model memory options, it also has a USB port for upgrades and to connect to a PC for adjusting settings. As well as this there is the ability to use all your model files from the older TARANIS X9D/X9D Plus/X9E making it easy to get the new system up and working.

The FrSky Taranis Q X7 is a very versatile, cost effective radio.

Recently I purchased this transmitter for my plane.I was really amazed quality of transmitter.I really like it.Came with stickers, instruction manual and neck strap.Unfortunately battery didn't come with this product.Anyway, either you may use 6xAA batteries or Nimh/Lipo battery it's up to you.As far as I learnt from other users, battery compartment depth is about 17mm.As a battery choice I ordered 7.2V NiMh FrSKY Transmitter battery which is sold by Banggood.com.On the other hand, that rechargeable battery comes with JST-XH Female connector. Therefore, you need to have connector to be able to charge it.I haven't flown with this transmitter yet but it's powerful and quality.I do recommend every pilot who consider to buy this transmitter.

This is an excellent radio, especially for the price. The gimbals feel pretty good but the throttle with the smooth tension bar has that "sliding plastic on metal" feeling straight out of the box. I fixed this by putting the tiniest drop of skateboard bearing lube on the piece that meets the tension bar and rubbing it in well. A thicker grease like white lithium would probably do the job a bit better.
The only real complaint I have is that it uses the nearly defunct mini-USB as opposed to the much more common (and durable) micro-USB. It doesn't come with a cable either so be sure you have one on hand or order one at the same time so you aren't left high and dry. You can still flash firmware from the SD card but you need the USB cable to use it with a simulator.
-1 star for the obsolete USB connector

Coming from a Devo7, this thing is just another world. I should have bought one at first when i start with drone racing. My baby is letting me learn new manouvers on simulators without the fear to crash it. The sticks are very well made, every single movement it's being tracked and transmitted instantly to whatever i'm flying. The module option makes this transmitter a MUST HAVE.
