    Product Description

    A top of the range 16 Channel X8R receiver from FrSky! (8 normal PWM outputs and all 16 channels on the dedicated S.BUS output)

    Now supplied with the 2015 firmware to compy with EU regulations.

    The X8R is a smaller package then previous 8 channel receivers, but has so much more capability. The new Smart Port supports the new hub-less sensors as well as the older hub analog sensors.

    The X8R supports 8 standard servo outputs, and you can access all 16 channels by using the Sbus line with Sbus supported servos or use a FrSky S.BUS Decoder for the full 16 channels. Or you can use 2 X8R receivers in combination and the channels will sync 1-8 on the first and 9-16 on the second.

    The X8 protocol is also backward compatible! In D8 mode it work with the DHT, DJT, DFT and DHT-U transmitter modules. In this mode you only have access to 8 channels but you still get to use the new Smart Port and digital sensors! And even cooler is the new antenna design “PCB” it reports up to a 20% gain in range over their older antennas. And the X8R is Firmware Upgradeable!

    This is the perfect receiver for the FrSky Taranis, with its built in XJT Module or any of the D8 systems to take advantage of the new digital Smart Port sensors.

    This is the 2015 version which complies with current EU regulations. Your Taranis X9D will need to have the latest firmware update.Alternatively, you can reverse update the X8R receiver.

    Delivers all that is promised, as usual for FrSky products. Excellent quality and good functionality.

    If one somehow needs to switch to international firmware, the easiest method is to use the Taranis Tx. Insert the micro SD into the Tx, connect the tx to a computer, download the international firmware to the micro SD, connect the Tx to X8R via smartport, write firmware into the Rx.

    SORRY!!! intended 5 Crowns all round in my review above!!!
    Superb receiver! & this firmware version supports the EU required LBT protocol ("Listen before Transmit") .... Even better when paired with a Taranis TX (& especially if you upgrade the Taranis firmware to ver 2.1) ..... I now have six of these & will keep buying more (having previously bought & used every other model of FrSky ACCST RX - all good in their own right) ..... "It beats as it sweeps as it cleans" ... When you run-out of analogue channels simply plug-in a $12 S.Bus to PWM decoder (or two) to its S.Bus port to add another four (or eight) analogue channels..... Daisy-chain any number of FrSky telemetry devices to its Smart Port & without any set-up hassle (its an absolute breeze) you have all the in-flight telemetry data that you ever dreamed of. AND .... the S.Bus & Smart Port connections all use standard servo lead connections!!.. AND the PCB type antennas are easily replaceable with ordinary, wire only type if required.
