Update

Oct 04, 2018

Had this for a while now and has been a hoot. Likes to be flown hard so don't skimp on power and dial back the throws. Only issue has been the landing gear, better off without it. Tough and easy to fix. Missed it on special recently, but will most likely get another one at some stage.

Not bad, but the jury is still out.

Bought mine along with the HK recommended park 450 motor which proved a bit wimpy for the job. I have now swapped the motor for a higher KV chinesium one and I'm waiting for the weather to calm down for a remaiden with the new motor.
The plane with a 2200 3s was tail heavy and I had trouble controlling it.
I intend to put a bit of weight in the nose and put the CG slightly in front of the recommended "spar" position. Blenderm tape was used on all the hinges.
I too had to supply a new wire push rod because the one in the kit was too short.
Despite my best efforts, there was a twist in the horizontal stab because the foamboard wasn't the best. I really wanted to have fun with this model but, so far, it's a bit below par.
After a few attempts at flights the landing gear bent and I dont think it will be long for this world.
Shame because its a good looking thing and I was going to get the Wildcat too.

Buen precio, calidad media.

After some MODs it's a fun plane ;-)

Their are some build issues with this plane and you really need a minimum of a 2212 motor, however, it flies very well.
I used a 2212 2200kv motor with an 8x4 prop and that provided plenty of power.
I had to use a 3S 2200mah 25C LIPO (192 grams) to get the plane balanced on the CG.
One of the control rods is too short to use so you'll have to source your own.

Agile and fun to fly

Jan 01, 2018

For the low cost it's a very good and enjoyable model. Needs a bit of thought in the build (eg the rudder push-rod is much too short so I had to substitute one from my stock) I also reinforced the tail joint with short lengths of triangular balsa - perhaps unnecessary but good for my peace of mind. The foam hinges weren't all sound so I added Blenderm tape to them all, again for peace of mind. Really nothing beyond the scope of any moderately experienced builder.
It flies amazingly well for such a crude model with no proper aerofoil. Spins are really good and it recovers immediately. I didn't think the apparently flimsy 'oleos' would survive many landings but I usually do a couple of touch and goes each flight on out hard surfaced runway with no trouble. They may not be so good on grass. To improve low speed handling, particularly on landing approach when it tends to lose height a bit quicker than expected, I added some half round balsa to the wing L/E which seems to have helped a bit.
Really, for what it costs there's little to complain about. I'd probably buy another if I total this one.

Not Bad

Oct 29, 2017

Pretty good for the price. Came across a few minor issues with the build, and needed to make some minor modifications.
- Control rods for rudder/elevator were short, so had to cut away some foam and slide the servos back about an inch.
- Rudder hinge was not cut correctly, elevator hinges cut through. Tape required.
- Had to enlarge the cut outs for the wing servos, even though I used the HXT 900's recommended in the video.
- Had to cut away some foam to get the motor wires to fit.
- Colour comes off pretty easy, so scrape it off where you are going to glue.
So minor issues. If it holds up to use, would buy another one. So more G and G Hobbyking, maybe something that looks like an old timer, a Playboy/Lanzo/Valkyrie etc.
