flying the PT-17

Nov 14, 2007

From a novice... I bought one of these a while back. I never flew it with the stock motor. I put in a geared brushless inrunner from the get-go using a 10X7 prop an a 3 cell lipo. I had to use a BIG hardware store steel flat washer (HEAVY)to get it to balance(glued to the front of the foam radial). The total flying weight was WAY heavier than what the box stated. But flying it with the brushless it was off the ground in 10 feet and near vertical. The plane would do ANYTHING you asked of it with the brushless set up but you HAVE to keep it MOVING. And upon landing you literaly have to DRIVE it on in or it would stall and crash. No floating on in here as I crashed my on landing 2 times and glued it back together. Once you get the hang of flying it... It is the PRETTIEST looking plane in the sky!!! It would do loop de loops, continuous. It also works exellent with skis too. I just bought a second one so I can have a flawless one(no crash marks) all over again. THANX RST
