Flew excellent...once

I fell in love with this model after seeing a club members fly. Should have been more careful since he said his first esc burned on startup. Same happened for me and HK was great to refund the cost of the esc but it also shorted out several servos. Bought a second model to replace it (I know, dumb of me) and it flew great once. On second flight she went haywire and was uncontrollable with one of the best pilots in our club (instructor) and crashed. Repaired her and tried again with same results. First and last HK model for me. If you get a good one, it's good. If not, well, you'll end up with a crashed plane.

Excellent flying plane

Once you get the CG correct on this warbird it flys rocksteady had to add a bit of lead to the nose and then fly it on a 6000 battery its a joy to fly , just beware of the retracts not having enough glue as mine ripped out on landing but was able to repair ,definitely worth the money i paid for it

The Yak is flying so nice.
Powerful and fast plane. I like the wide landing gear. I'm flying it with 3300 mah lipo, I think it is better for the landing gear.

I cannot give this plane a good review because of a major problem. I have flown it six times, and three times the blocks which the undercarriage are screwed into have ripped out of the wings. This has broken one of the retract servos and hobbyking have no stock of spares. These were not hard landings. After last time I glued the blocks in with epoxy, so maybe next time they will hold. Very disappointing as otherwise this model is very robust

Great but got flaws

First of all I love that Hobbyking came up with such an iconic model.
However, there are a few disappointments with the delivered model:
Landing light bulb is missing ...
Decals are attached in a rather messy way (e.g. the red star on the horizontal stab is inverted :/ as if it was a flying circus)
Tail wheel push rod is way too short ...
What is very nice though is the arrangement of the battery compartment, including the preinstalled holder for the receiver.
However, I can push the 6s battery as far in front as I want ... finding the right CG still seems a challenge ...
All matters that can be resolved, leaving these annoying details aside its a great iconic warbird!
