Become part of the landscape as you patrol the skies with the Hawkeye 1700 Polycarbonate covered FPV plane. The molded EPO foam airframe is designed with versatility and easy transport in mind. The whole airframe breaks down in to incredibly small components for easy transport. The two piece wing panels are hinged in the middle so each panel folds in half. The aluminum tail boom slips into a collet style fitting on the fuselage. Thumbscrews for the wing joiner and hold down bolts mean the whole airframe can be broken down or assembled in minutes without any tools, great for remote field work.

Speaking of fuselage, since this plane was designed to carry an assortment of FPV and other equipment, easy fuselage access was paramount. In addition to the removable front canopy, you can reach the deep bowls of the fuselage with the hinged side door. As the airplane is plug and fly, you can be flying in literally minutes. Keeping on the theme of rugged, the airframe is a pusher configuration to protect the motor and prop, the servos are of the metal gear variety, and the included hardware is up for the task. The afore mentioned canopy is held in place with a very positive spring loaded latch which captures the hatch base, and the hinged clear canopy section which gives you easy access for your camera equipment.

So if you're looking for a rugged, easy assembling plane for FPV, look no further than the Hawkeye 1700 polycarbonate coated Camouflage FPV plane.

Well, i had some problems with receiving the model (ordered during black friday and received it 2 weeks ago) but nevermind.

Mine come with a problem on the tail, there was too much glue in the slot so the alluminium tube could not fit in, however hk gave me some bonus points for reward since i drilled the excessive glue and fit the tube in.
Once everything was installed i tried to balance the model and it was a nightmare! i guess the model should be balanced with a 10000mah 4s because mine with a 3000 4s for power and 2x 2100mah 3s plus a gopro hero2 for ballast was still tail heavy.

Once in flight i trimmed it and actually it flies pretty well but man it is a really fragile model!
the first landing was ok, but without a landing gear when you try to land on a grass field things get bad because the plane it's really heavy.
on the second landing the tail got a hit and now all the alluminium tube moves in it's slot on the fuselage.. so the model is definitely broken.
this shouldnt be a problem but since there are no spare parts it is, cause i've opened the fuselage and i cant fix the slot.
Definitely a bad buy, with some spare parts and a landing gear it could become a must buy

I purchased the Hawkeye during the Black friday sales, but it's quickly become one of my favourite aircraft to fly.
Assembly was a breeze, definitely one of the easiest i've put together compared to other PNF models. Handlaunching on your own can be a little tricky due to the plane being pretty heavy, but with a friend to help it's much better.
Once in the air the hawkeye is a pleasure to pilot. I fly with a 5000mah pack, and the plane can still glide without power for quite a while! The clear plastic FPV canopy is great for mounting FPV equipment and alleviates any fear of losing equipment mid flight. I've also found I can achieve much longer FPV range than I could with my Bix3 running the same fpv gear (I guess the front canopy helps isolate the transmitter from potential interference from the motor?).
All up it's really a stunning plane. For the AU$100 or so I paid for it I feel like I stole it.
At full price it is pretty expensive but it's a hard model to fault in my eyes. Perhaps AU279.99 is a but too much but if you're in the market for a solid, reliable, and heavy duty fpv plane then the hawkeye ticks all the right boxes.

Hobbyking removed my negative review. Poor equipment. Main boom that connects main body to tail was 15 to the left which maid tail wonky. Also would not fully tight.
Where they shrunk the plastic onto wings they maid the bend out of shape and the ailerons were pointing down under force which made the servos buzz and had trouble moving.
No bubble wrap in box to support parts and kit was just poor quality. Returned for full refund.
Don't you just love hobbyking removing negative reviews!!!!!

Wow, with the price lowered to $100 i had to get one. Glad I did. Great plane, lots of room in it. I have apache osd, 900mgz tx, go pro, and board camera on board, plus 2 4000mah lipos. Feels heavy, but flies just fine. Do plan on putting some type of landing gear on it at some point.

Order one in the sale for 72 inc P&P. Arrived, test fit the parts, and the wing nut is knackered, meaning the last wing bolt wouldn't screw in. Ordered a 2nd one, the wing nuts where not bad on this one, a little glue splurged into 2 wing nuts, a bit of persuasion was used to get the wing bolts in and tightened up.Value has to be 5* as it was in the sale, and most of the electrics alone would of cost that much.Quality 3 crowns, due to having to order 2 to get a working one, and sending the faulty one back is hassle.Overall will be a nice plane once put together, and will fly no doubt pretty much the same as my 1900mm Skywalker. Will be interest to see flight time on the same 5800mah zippy compact that is used in my Skywalker.

In addition to metal gear Servos, the Clevises are also metal and the Control Horns are CF. Purchase a Servo Y Cable for the Ailerons connection. Weight stated is flying weight minus battery, receiver and FPV equipment. Instructed attatchment of the Tail Boom to the Rudder/ Elevator Assembly is to use 2 part Epoxy as the adhesive. Tip: Don't apply too much as to make repair/ replacement of tail surface mounted Servos impossible. I do not recommend this aircraft for beginners. 15 Crowns.

I received mine today; 75pcnt / 100pcnt
-Camo theme definitely not my preference. I prefer white or gray.
-Hinged wing kind of cool but could lead to failure from the hinges.
-Not sure what a wing skid is doing under the fuselage but it will break on first landing.
-Both left blind nuts on the fuselage for the left wing was filled in with glue. It took me an hour to clear the threads.
-Motor cowl does not provide enough cooling vent in my opinion.
-Boom is made of aluminum not CF.
-Boom should have had a slit instead of a slot to pass the elevator and rudder servo wires.
-Boom must be glued in place and cannot be made removable as there is no provision for it. Maybe I will just velco it in place as form of fastening.
-My vertical stabilizer came leaning to the right by 5* I had to heat the rudder fin to set it straight.

Other than what I have mentioned above I give this plane 75pcnt.

This page wouldnt let me add this as a comment to my initial review above so I have added here. Maiden this morning, not ideal conditions. Throw weight definitely a problem, I only just made it - was on its side a meter off the ground before I recovered - if it had hit the ground it would have been a mess. Am looking for landing gear, not to land but to take off. Once in the air flew well, with the weight it didn't care about the wind. Could coast at 1/3 throttle, at 100pcnt was actually quite fast. It is loud. Camo is a problem for orientation - if you aren't going to fly/land FPV then you will need to brighten this thing up. Low flybys looked great though. Glides well, coming into land in fair head wing had to go round a couple of times as overshot the mark. Poly carbonate took landing on grass ok, but suspect if you land on gravel it will scratch up pretty bad. Overall it is an ok plane - I say ok as it is too heavy, but the durability, flight characteristics and payload capabilities make up for that. Will grade higher if I can find the right landing gear to take off from.

Never done a review but received mine today so may be able to offer some info for those considering.

Plane arrives in a box with all the parts foam wrapped separated by bubble wrap, not in a foam shell like a Bixler. Mostly finish is good, though my FPV canopy didn't fit without cutting away at the foam. The FPV canopy is ok but the camera mount feels a bit awkward. It does allow you to have two cams - fpv with a Mobius or GoPro on top.

Manual is just two photocopied pages stabled together with a couple of drawings. Motor is a 3637 1000kv - cant get to it without cutting off a plastic shroud. It came with an 8x6e prop and a no-name 45A ESC with a fair aluminium heat sink. CG is said to be 90mm from the wing edge. You can move the tail in/out before tightening - it recommends it being 425mm from the fuse.

Weight is not a typo - this thing is heavy - the tail rod is 20x60mm metal tube, there's lots wood reinforcement in the wing, screws everywhere - with the recommended 4000mah 4S this is going to be a very heavy plane. The poly carbonate covering makes it very tough but heavy. Plenty of room inside for everything.

Its certainly different, and its going to be heavy to throw. Personnally not so worried about the camo on the ground (though I did buy two different plane finders!) but I think it could get ugly when turning to land with trees in the background.
