Great baja that takes a flogging, had a month so far and running a tank through it every other day..
Things to note:
Has alloy upper plates front and rear
Has walbro carby
Had alloy diff housing
Spares bag has spare CV boots, bodypins, cir-clips and assorted small nuts and grub screws as well as all the tools..

I would recommend doing a strip down and rebuild, lock tight everything and take the tyres off and add some tape around the tyre foam..

Well I finally have my Baja 260S back together. No problems, oil in diff, threadlock on what I would have considered most important points (diff, mounts etc) lots of grease. Back in one part and runs very well after two tanks of gas. I added the extra bearing to the gearbox and installed a kill-switch but other than that no changes, all screws were tight and as well assembled as could be expected. Some screws do not exactly match the HPI manual, which I have been using for disassembly and re-assembly, this has resulted in a few purchases of extra screws to match the manual, no big deal, and hi-tensile screws from a local screrw and bolt company are about a tenth of the cost of original HPI. So all-in-all a very good product and a very good price. I am now going to replace breakages with after-market parts but plan no other upgrades for the immediate future.

bought two cars , no damage in transit , well put together , but one will need to threadlock a few items , stock rear tyres are a bit thin , rip easy , on both cars my brother and i pulled apart the gearbox for an inspection , one bearing missing out of gear box on both cars , wheel bearings are a direct replacement , also both diffs were poorly sealed with silastic, which had entered the diff housing , diff contained some kind of oil , replaced with 1000 w hpi silocone diff oil , transmission was greased with some nasty type of grease , we replaced that with high quality grease. both cars have been driven hard and are more than upto the task, just need a bit of tlc out of the box ,a great deal :)

Plastic parts,

Great, the plastic is durable very flexable and easily able to withstand the wieght and speed off this car as it rolls and tumbles.

Metal parts,

poor quality, ball joints, turnbuckles, and bearings are very poor!!!

Do not take this car in the mud or water as you will have to pull every thing apart within 2 days of doing so and clean, or your car will not move due to rusted bearings.

I will strees the poor quality of the metal again VERY VERY VERY BAD !!!!!!!!!!!! its about 45$ to replace bearings you will need to!

Engine,

overall it is a great motor for bashing, i have not owned Hpi model so i can not compare it, nor any other gp model only nitro.

it starts nice runs smooth great torque, good power curve i have not had any problems with it..

Overall if you are looking for a good 1 5 scale gp car look no further,

with it being a clone of HPI 5b it has many upgrades avalible thousand of choices!!!

It also shares HPI 5B desing so it is a great build, strong!

I will recomend buying stock servos from the HPI 5b as these are of quality and the car deserves them. nothing worse than a throttle servo/brake falling at 40mph. this a saftey factor to!

the stock servos will fit to, no mods

Buy the car, replace bearings and buy stock servos!

I've bought one of these and they are as quick, loud and big as people say. I am extremely happy with it given the price. Hobbyking was great to buy from and super quick postage too as I received it 2 days later after payment.
As for the buggy it is the lower quality clone baja with easy breakable plastic parts and a few alloy parts but thankfully upgrading to alloy is affordable these days. Also the first thing you should do is replace the spark plug with an ngk CMR7H. The one supplied on mine died after one tank.

ETA of 40-60 days.

What a Joke!

The ETA for this product has been 40-60 days for the last hundred days.

The current ETA is still showing as 40-60 days.

I emailed customer service and could not get a straight answer.

great buggy! issues that others mentioned have been fixed! servo hold had already been filed down, shocks were full, diff had a little fluid, enough to look after the gears so no need to fill it unless you want a change in performance.

Great buggy, i have had for about a month now. engine runs really well. Ive had a few minor problems, screws comming loose, fixed with locktite. I have screw that secures the cluch bell shear but was easily replaced. I have found the steering servo seems to struggle so the turning circle suffers. overall is been a great buggy so far and has been great fun.
