Great for small aircraft brushless conversion

Jan 11, 2017

Nice appearance and good quality. Worked well in a WLToys F949 brushless conversion. Using a 3 inch prop press-fit and XP3A ESC with brake enabled so I can play "glider". Cute fun little plane and no more replacing brushed motors or the stock noodle'y prop shaft.

Very cool little motor, I it put into my HK micro J3 cub paired with the XP 3A .7g micro esc, and 3x2 GWS prop. All up weight on the cub is now 42grams and performance is fantastic.
Be prepared to do some very fine soldering, and find some very small mounting screws.
This little Gem is well worth the brushless conversion cost on a micro flyer.

Measured weight is 3.3g with bare wires. Even a lightweight connector will add an extra .1g so the practical weight would be closer to 3.4g. This motor is designed for a single LiPo cell. The advertised 44g thrust with a 3x2 GWS prop is pretty optiistic. That might be achievable with perfect soldering, thick wires and a brand new high end LiPo, but my personal experiments with Zippy 350 mAh cells and thin wires and connectors (to save weight at the cost of increased resistance) managed to spin a GWS 3x2 prop at around 20.000 RPM, pulling 2.6A for a static thrust of about 36g. Anything larger than a 3x2.5 (for instance a 3x3 or 3.5x2) will overload this motor (drawing more than 3 amps at 100pcnt thrust). A 4x2.5 would go beyond 5A, ending in a puff of blue smoke before you could even throttle back . Still a very good motor for 30-60g planes.

Motor seems good quality but do not use for 1s use on any p@rkz0ne um planes. Tried to convert polecat to 1s and it was a huge waste of time for same as stock performance or worse.

It works ok for my 42g 450mm wing-span micro trainer. I use it with AR6400 DSM2 RX, 3A 1g 1S ESC, 1S 200mah 20C Li-pol, and 4x2,5 prop.

I have done some thrust testing with various propellers on the AP03-7000kv motor.
See this video.

Works good on a 1s LiPo system with certain props and batteries like GWS 5030 prop and 160mah Nanotech on a XP3A ESC.

It's so tiny! It is smaller than the picture makes it look, but its still a good motor.
