HOBBYKING AP03 4000KV

Mar 30, 2022

These and 1104s at 4000kv are great for powering small Guillow's conversions on 1S using Hobby King 5X3 red or black push on props.

HOBBYKING AP03 4000KV

I bought some of these on sale to try with a few Guillow conversions.
I'll try a light weight 5x3 prop (with 1.5mm hole) on 1s.

Good motor

Good motor with delicate leads, try to avoid bending them.

These motors are okay, however the leads are contained within a single insulated cord. Not sure how long they'll last before they heat up and short out.

A good choice for outdoor use!
O.k., not one allone. But 4 of them together power a model of 200g absolutly satisfying.
The only problem to solve is the props.
There are airscrews needed with small diameter and huge pitch, 2,16"x3" e.g.
But thanks to 3D-printing this is not longer a problem.
Birds like the Armstrong-Whitworth "Atalanta" with a span of 55 cm are possible.
As I said: outdoors!

I have done some thrust testing with various propellers on the AP03-4000kv motor in the video below

youtube.com/watch?v=6WMros9ZCjA

Works good on a 1s LiPo system with certain props and batteries like GWS 5030 prop and 160mah Nanotech on a XP3A ESC.

could only get this working for a few mins. wires seem way to thin to work with. need to be slightly thicker HK

It gives about 30 grams of thrust on 1 cell with a 4025 GWS prop.
Some wobble in the bell, but it seems to run smoothly enough.
