The New HobbyKing Thorax is a face full of attitude, this little mini hex is the best of both worlds using common sized batteries and FPV gear, but with all the agility and fun of a 250 class racer.

The Thorax is a 310mm FPV machine with built in sub-frame camera mounts and vibration isolated Mobius platform. Designed for 250 class power systems and 5inch props the beefy 4mm motor arms have all mounting options and can handle a range of motors from 1704~2206 class. There are a number of standardized mounting points for all your gear, including the 30.5mm FC points. The composite FR4 construction and design makes this a super strong and light weight at just over 200g.

The Hex gives you that extra lift needed for standard 2200mAH class batteries everyone has a draw full of and can lift full FPV gear with ease. The added efficiency of unloaded 5inch props and the bigger battery gives you a bit more air time fun as well.

The Thorax as the name implies, is in the middle of bigger cruisers and speed racers and is the prefect amount of different, and a whole lot of FUN.

Features:
• Vibration isolated Mobius mount
• Integrated FPV in frame camera mount
• 12,14,16mm and Tri motor mounting holes

No brainer

Dec 14, 2018

According to the pictures the frame looks quite flimsy, but I was pleasantly surprised how thick the arms were - they actually are 5mm GF4 !!! After more than a year they are holding up well !!!

Thorax Frame - Great Deal

Mar 24, 2018

This frame is fantastic - by using 35mm standoffs, you can use a regular Runcam mini or a Caddx F1. I used the 20amp Little Bee ESC, 2300kv Motors, and a CC3D using CleanFlight. Screams on a 4s battery. My only gripe is the hole size for the motor screws, they needed to be slightly enlarged. Pics of my build are here - https://rotorbuilds.com/build/10638

The best you can get

Mar 15, 2018

I always wanted a mini hex - so here ya go!!! With motors, ESCs available in the bin it can be done in hours, and if it is on sale, it is a no brainer. At first look looks quite flimsy, but was pleasantly surprised how rigid and thick the arms were. I bought 2 ... just for spares :)

Very nice frame for the price! I am currently using the 2206 baby beast motors with 20a Afro esc's with the cc3d on 4s getting 9 minutes of flight time.

excelente y resistente frame, despues de muchos golpes no se han roto mas que las palas, lo he probado con naza lite y con CC3D y se comporta de maravilla, el CG lo encuentran en linea con los motores del centro.

Great frame! I had been looking for a cheaper alternative to the expensive "mini" hex frames out there and for <$30 this can't be beat!

My current build has the Thorax frame with Multistar Elite x2204 motors. With a 2200mAh battery the setup weighs 650 grams and hovers around 45pcnt throttle. The frame is very well thought out and has lots of room for mounting things. The vibration isolation mount works great for my go-pro.

Two things I would change would be to add spacers between the two bottom plates, this would allow ESCs and power distribution to be done between the two bottom plates, helping keep the build clean. It would also be nice if hobbyking had replacement arms or some sort of landing gear to help soften the landings.
