The HobbyKing Ventus EPO glider kit features removable wings for easy transport, an aluminum retract system and working flaps. Finished in EPO foam the HobbyKing Ventus glider boasts a smooth gloss finish that will have you cutting through the air in search of the next thermal uplift.

The long wingspan (2.3m) and short wing-chord make this a fast glider, to ensure agile performance the main wings have twin Carbon Fiber tubing plus an alloy insert. Landings are slow and predictable with flaps down.

The H-King Ventus is a high-quality, original design you wont find elsewhere.

The HobbyKing Ventus also includes a spinner and nose cone allowing you to choose between a powered or un-powered setup. Servo covers, control rods and all general hardware needed to complete this model are included. You will require 6 x 9gram servos for the control surfaces and 1 x 17gram MG servo for the landing gear, A 6 channel transmitter and receiver (Tx/Rx) and either a receiver battery (for an un-powred setup) or the Motor, ESC and Lipoly battery detailed below.

summary of building notes and Hobby King - The basic body and wings were great the fitting out was fine but the niggles of no instructions and no way of fixing horns was frustrating, hence my effort to write same. I contacted Hobby king re monor shortages on another kit and had no response.Am I writing on here to be ignored.I see on the RTF site that overheating was a problem and the modeller concerned was cutting holes in the fus and was considering fitting a smaller prop/ Will my *85 receiver melt and is hobbyking aware of this and if so what are they doing. They have a duty of care and could be liable in law 'not fit for purpose'.I await answers. What a shame when it is a good looking well produced body shell, spoilt for need of testing and a few coppers to make it an excellent kit.

as promised building notes The Hobbyking 'Ventus' 2.3 metre powered sailplane. Purchased as a kit April 2013 approximately *50 sterling. Building Instructions :- First of all check the components and ensure with a dry run all the component parts are there. 1 . fit all the servo,s 4 in the wing need special care as is would be easy to cut through into the upper wing. Next fit the elevator servo 9mg for the rudder and the 15g servo for the retract wheel on the ply board as cut out. Cut and fit the snake link and epoxy i

Took the plunge even after hearing HK model purchase horror stories. I dropped the money for the kit version and overall am very pleased. Model arrived quickly from US warehouse double boxes all parts sealed in plastic along with cardboard inside the box separating larger parts from each other and inflatable shipping pillows inside. Excellent packing!

Opened the model all parts are complete and all foam parts of the plane are in excellent shape and look very sturdy my first impression was "wow this was only $64 dollars". Will start assembly when I get the correct prop adapter for this.

The prop adapter it comes with is larger than the motor suggested in the combine related items window. That motor has a 3mm shaft the spinner included in kit is for 3.17mm. That is about my only complaint with this kit, and a slight mishap with a cutting knife on one side of the canopy, which I can really live with. Well worth the money and I'd make the purchase again even knowing what I do now.

GOOD NEWS: this kit is V2 ventus version!
With all wing reinforcements in carbon. I also got the PNF version, believe me , just forget it and buy this kit and build it with good material.(I had to rebuild my PNF 80pcnt)
One trick: remove the gear and use the place for the battery then your COG will be perfect.(4,5cm from the front of the wing).
Flying weight is 1120g.
This is a fast glider, not for RC beginners. But it can land slowly thanks to flaps.

This glider is a great kit that goes together well but it helps to have done some building as some bits are a bit tricky. The hinged ailerons and flaps are quite stiff and I found that I had to add a backing plate and screws to the control horns to stop them being pulled out of their slots after epoxying them on. Also don't forget to install the aluminium sleeve with the two grub screws before you join the halves of the fuselage together which holds the wings together duing flight. Long extension wires are required also as the servos are a long way out on the wings. I am using a 28/26 1000Kv motor 315watt http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=29824
but it is quite tricky to install as there is not easy access to the fire wall etc. I also found I had to reverse the shaft which was a pain as I had to dremell a little groove in the opposite end for the little clip to hold the shaft in. The plane balances perfectly with a 2200 3S nano tech battery so not sure why they had to add tail weight in the HK video. Overall a great plane and the carbon fibre in the wing is excellent. The wing spar is sloppy so I might replace that with a better fitting one. Also added magnets for the canopy hatch.

Kit is really good and the finishing is very smooth.
Wings are reinforced with a carbon spar and carbon strips for the trailing edge are included.
The propeller in the kit is a 10x6 and the spinner diameter 44mm.
This is the V2 ventus, not the first one with flexible wings. Now they are massively strong.
If you want to get a good discount you'll find a buddy code valid until the 21st of October on r c s e a r c h . i n f o
Just write ventus on the search.

Brought from the Aus warehouse along with another model, arrived in 4 days! Excellent quality model, the surface finish is extremely smooth, this is the V2 and has the upgraded wing spars, very strong! The boom to tail join is a bit iffy and will be using thin carbon rod to add strength. Will be using a 70mm EDF instead of a motor/folding prop setup, more for fun than soaring!
