The HobbyKing® ™ Altimeter is a stand-alone, small, light and convenient unit for recording altitude and temperature changes throughout your flight. Once you have finished flying, you simply plug the altimeter into your computer via the supplied USB interface and download all the recorded flight data which displays an Altitude/Temperature/time graph for each flight. Powered by your RX, the H-King Altimeter is small and light enough to be fitted to almost any model and comes with mounting foam & instructions.

No problems making the software work when following the links shown at upload files tab. Dongle needed driver update for windows 7 and software to be downloaded.spend one evening to get it working with, a lot of help was found by searching for FD-A altimeter with google
and using this driver for windows 10,
http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspxFast delivery to the netherlands.
Works very good.
Had it working within an half hour.
Works fine on Windows 8, no problem installing divers and software.
Only things i don't like, I live in the netherlands, so I am always below 0 (sealevel)
I wist there was a way to calibrate it to a "zero" point, for instance, when you plug in the power, it wil automaticly start at zero altitude.
Using it in a dlg.
Brilliant, got it working no problem.
Use the files tab on this site to download the driver, and or software.
In windows open up devices, and you can see what com port is assigned (com 3 in my case)
Tested it walking up and down my stairs !!!, too dark now in UK to try it in our DLGS.Heute mit der Post nach 10 Tagen angekommen.
Indeed, this Hobbyking Altimeter can be used for all other kinds of uses. Personally I also use it to log the altitude profile during running and cycling. After filtering, it can compute the total ascend, descend and the rate of ascend/descend. Very useful.
I made a spreadsheet, in which the CSV data of the program can be imported, which filters the data and computes several parameters. The spreadsheet is available under the files-tab: dataconversion HK altimeter.xlsx (file is packed in ZIP-file 314229556X70597X0.zip (no file name 2256 kB)
The spreadsheet filters the altitude data to allow for a far more accurate determination of the total altitude difference and for the rate of climb and descend. To adjust for longer and shorter data sets, shift the computations in the last line to your actual last line and copy one intermediate line of computations (not the data itself!) to the remainder of the data until the bottom, including the bottom line.
The spreadsheet also displays graphs of the altitude and total ascend and rate of climb/descend. You can modify these graphs according to your needs.
Note: works OK with Windows 7 with the new drivers!
Not cheap, but well worth the money.
?????????? ?????? ???????????????????????????Overall I give it a 4 for functionality as it does as described. However finding the correct drivers one needs to review the comments at the International Hobby King site where you can find a posting pointing to Fly Dream. A quick Google search will yield a link to the site and you can download the most current drives for Windows XP, Win 7 and Win 8. The driver install could have been written better but it does work. About an hours worth of using the program will have you up to speed.
For the price it is a great value however it is limited in only providing basic information. Altitude and Temperature with the only settings being metric or feet. There are no other adjustments such as screen size, Font or Screen size.
Quality of the product is rather good for a sensor this size but I did notice that when I inserted it into the fuselage of my HK Specter the servo coupler slid out of the sensor and I had to re-connect it. That part is also rather fragile and big hands my pull the wires out of the coupler so be careful.
Pluses, It does what it is advertised to do and nothing more which is what I wanted.
Negatives, I can't get it to adjust to the screen size of my laptop and there is no way to adjust the colors or fonts.
Thus the reasons for the 4 Crowns.
This may be a decent product if you can get it to work but it does require a driver and additional software to be useful at all.
The instructions are useless in this regard. There is no included software nor is a link provided nor is there any software on the product page under the "files" tab.
Come on HobbyKing, you've done a YouTube product review (2 years ago) and yet using only the information included with this product no one would be able to use this product.
