The HobbyKing® ™ ASK21 became a firm favorite with the test team during development, it is fast enough with well balanced control surfaces for some aerobatic flying, yet easy enough to fly that a relative beginner can enjoy this superb model.

Plug and Fly of course means all the hard work is done for you, the low kv motor and large prop combo offers plenty of thrust for relatively low amp draw, when tested, we found this combo to be very efficient, so a good climb rate and good flight times are assured. The pre-fitted 9g servos are all per-centred are ready to go, and with no glue required at any point during assembly, you will find that you can be enjoying this quality 2 meter glider in no time.

Construction is from a nicely finished, glossy and of course tough EPO, the large landing wheel adds to the practicality and will help to keep this superb looking glider shiny and new for years to come. The wing joiner and dihedral brace are super strong, and well designed for easy field assembly, the wing is re-enforced and very stiff, this is 2 meter glider is a joy to fly and is a great choice for both the in-experienced and experienced RC pilot.

As a beginner RC pilot with only 16 flights on my 2540mm ASW28 I was worried about flying this "Hotter" plane for the first time, but I was wrong. It was trimmed perfect in the air right out of the box with the CG at the prescribed 50mm dimension. It will do a lot more than I can right now but controls well enough for this relatively inexperienced RC pilot. What I really want to say about this model is that it HANDLES THE WIND very well. Two maiden flights in 15mph with gusts in low 20's, the second flight 20 minutes / 3 climbs down to 11.4 volts on a 3S 1500ma... could have gone longer. No thermals just stays up there in the wind. Tape the spar so it doesn't rotate in the wings and throw off dihedral or glue one wing to it. Lubricated the elevator push pull tube in the vertical stab. with some Teflon spray a few times and smoothed out a stiff elevator control around neutral position. Nice plane so far.

This could have been a 5-Crown. Got mine yesterday in the mail, had it together in about an hour. I can confirm the airframe is very resilient. Between a bad wing servo and a great deal of positive thrust angle, first flight ended up planted on one wing, cartwheeling in the grass, no damage. When I went and checked things out, it turned out one of the aileron servos was stripped. So... like some of us I had a box of servos and replaced the wing servos with another brand. The amount of positive thrust angle in the motor seems excessive. Not sure if this is just mine, or a pattern. I would think neutral or negative would be the correct answer given the amount of lift.

I read many reviews talking about this airplane being underpowered. I disagree. On 3-Cells it does just find. This is a sailplane, not a hotliner , so it climbs just fine, for what it is. I will say though that this is not a parkflyer. The airframe is so clean that descents and landing really take some room. Even in a full crab I could not bleed enough E to land nicely (was flying on too small of a field).

In the end, lovely airplane, responds just as I would expect a sailplane to respond. For the price, t is a great value. If you want a 3D plane, buy one. If you want a hotliner buy one. If you want a 100 dollar foamie sailplane to "chill" or teach someone to fly, this is a good place to start.

There no manual to the glider so you have to try and work out how to do it yourself

This plane is amazing, the scale looks alone make it worth the price, and, it is a big hit at the field. Flying this glider, well, set your control travel to 60pcnt, and, EXPO to 20pcnt for initial flight. As this puppy is very sensitive to control input.
That's it enjoy the ride. I was easily up with the seagulls (hand launch at 50pcnt throttle) and thermals for 10mins. Had to force myself to come down. Landing takes attention, as this glider has a very long landing slope. But after a few practice approaches during maiden. She slid in and almost bulls-eyed the landing target. spoilers or flaperons would be nice to enable ease of landing for the astute modeler. But if you take your time and learn the nuances particular to this glider you wont need the control extras.
Very satisfied with this Glider.

Hi, this glider came as billed and, "delivers". The included power-set easily delivers 1:1 prop thurst. Im feeling verticle but no maiden till tomorrow. But wanted to praise hk for delivering. In a timely manner a well equipped prop glider.
Thank you HK!!

nice scale looking glider needed to replace a control horn though as they are very weak. but good strong build also needed to bend the ailerons and elevator to get them too loosen up but other than that its a good plane

Design seems quite ok. Build quality though had some flaws.

Needed to remove the carbon stiffenig rods from the wings and reinstall them (they were not level with the surface about 1.5-2mm => permanent brake).

Plane is not for beginners. Tipstall occurs quite easily. I had the C o G set exactly as stipulated in the manual (50mm) today. Needed to add quite a bit of down rudder to keep it from stalling all the time. Will try to move forward CoG a bit hopeing that improves flying abilities of the plane.

Due to the tendency to stall I crashed on frozen ground... motor carrier and fuselage broke. Robustness is ok though given the hefty impact.

To add to my previous review, I have been slope soaring my '21 most of the weekend and what a performer! Really makes good use of lift yet is sleek enough to be very fast across the slopes. When sloping, the power of the motor in this glider is irrelevant; just launch it into the wind and watch climb. I actually prefer to fly my '21 over my Radian Pro.

This is a great glider. I would not recommend this for beginners. Remember, always coordinate your turns with some rudder to help it out. I will say that this bird is under-powered. It needs a bigger motor. You really need to do a gradual climb out. Other than that, I can easily fly for 10 minutes on a battery.
