The Tiger Moth can be best described as Iconic, it was developed from the very succesful Gipsy Moth and designed by Geoffrey De Havilland in the 1930s to meet Air Ministry specifications for a new preliminary Trainer for the RAF. The most noticable feature that distinguishes the Tiger Moth from similar DH bi-planes is the distinctive swept upper wing, which allowed better access for a pilot while wearing a parachute. Tiger Moths are still popular to this day with many examples still being flown for pleasure the world over, truly a classic aircraft from the Golden Age of Aviation.

This nice size Tiger Moth has the look of a traditional scratch built kit, however, make no mistake, this is a nice quality and thoroughly modern ARF that has been designed for Electric Power. Easy to construct, the Tiggie features traditional pull/pull tailfeathers and a simple but effective wing rigging system that still allows for wing removal when required. The Tiger Moth also features a very large battery tray and hatch located on the under-side for easy and fast battery changing. The quality of the included & comprehensive hardware is excellent as is the quality of the pre-applied covering and painted glass-fiber cowl.

The Tiger Moth is one of those models that every pilot needs to own at least once, there is nothing quite like a relaxing afternoons flying with this classic aircraft, it looks great on the ground and magnificent in the air, so grab your flying helmet, goggles and Irvine jacket and re-live the golden age of aviation!

Well I built and have had 3 flights out of this amazing version of the classic Tiger Moth. It's not a plane for the beginner for sure, so a little build experience is essential. A couple of quality issues like missing clevises, screws, nuts and incorrect tail wheel leg size but the ideas come to get round these minor issues. In terms of flying it, it's great, and just like the real thing. Setup I have gone for is similar to 'Rascals' below, G10 engine, 60A esc but with a 3300mah 3 cell battery which all loaded right up front brought the c of g spot on without the need of ballast and am getting a good 10 minute flight times. Check out bannistator on YouTube as I have a couple of videos to show this bird

Received the model today, not starting the build as it's for my Dad's Christmas present. However I have taken the bits out of the box to check for damage - there was none.
I have the recommended servos to go in it, a G10 motor, 13x4.5 wooden slowfly prop and a 60a esc... plan on using a 3 cell 2200mah...
quality of the kits looks really nice - very pleased so far...

You will need a 40mm spinner for this model. This is the only bit of info I couldn't find in any if the reviews...

Once the kit has been uilt up and flown I'll do a follow up review

After a couple of not so good kits(jets) it was a pleasure to pick this up from Ipswich the other day
on opening the box the build quality stands out as excellent the instructions are not bad but would have been better in colour. every thing was there nothing was missing. I dry fitted every thing which went together with no problem at all. there is nothing wrong with this model and I would recommend it to any one. It has wires for elevators and rudder and work on a push pull system and are fairly easy to fit and tension. It also has wing wires which are easily fitted and tensioned, the only thing I think could be improved is the clevis's they should be the metal ones not the plastic ones. A very good kit easy to build looks great especially with a large wooden propeller . Here is what I have in mine Turnigy G15 Brushless Outrunner 950kv, turning a 13x4.5 wooden propeller, with a redbrick 70 amp esc 2x Turnigy 9 gram servos and 2 x standard Futaba servos.
10 out of 10 for this one( why cant your jet kits be of this quality.) Will post some pictures later. If she flies as good as she looks she's a winner.well done hk

A good model airplane. Good flew and landed.
Not easy to aerobatics.
In a simple flight without drums, flies cool and beautiful.
All questions to the ARF, his dignity, and defects.
From unpacking and before the first flight.
Full story of my building model is here

GOT IT ALL TOGETHER AND FLEW ONCE. BOTH MY TOP AND BOTTOM WINGS WERE BUILT WARPED . GOING TO TRY TO USE HEAT GUN TO FIX BEFORE I FLY IT AGAIN . FOUND THE PULL-PULL HARDWARE TO BE OF INFERIOR QUALITY AND UNSAFE SO REPLACED WITH BETTER PARTS FROM LOCAL HOBBY STORE. GEAR IS SO STIFF IT WILL PULL OUT THE BOTTOM ON ROUGH SURFACES SO MADE AN ARTICULATING MOUNT. CG IN PLANS IS WRONG DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR THE OFF SET BOTTOM WING. ADDED A LATCH FOR THE BATTERY BOX.

Beautiful model. I had to do some minor mods like reinforcing the structure where the landing gear goes screwed, especially the frontal part. It was need so much weight to balance that I decided to use a 5000mA 4s lipo placed under the motor structure at a very unconfortable to change location. I'm thinking about splitting the cowling in two parts to easy the battery access. The recommended motor is too short, I had to use a Turnigy C3548-900 to get my 12x8 propeller at the right position. The heavier motor also helped to get it balanced. The best fit spinner was the 45mm (HK B45spinner-2). As I'm always disassembling the wings to carry it, I replaced the nylon clevis for steel ones, they are stronger and easier to set the wing wires in place.

Firstly let me say this model looks fantastic when completed the color scheme is great. A couple of scale pilots sets it of beautifully. I maidened the plane today and it flys great. Really enjoyed flying it, needs some rudder input in turns which feels very scale. Didn't do to many aerobatics as just getting used to it. Loops and stall turns are great fun. Rolling is fairly slow and needs rudder and elevator to not lose to much height. The c of g in the manual is spot on. I had to move the battery forward as far as possible into the engine cowl which required me to make a small platform for it to sit on.
Now for the not so good. The small clevises used for the rudder and elevator are ok but the rigging screws which are supposed to screw into them are useless. I ended up just looping the wire though the clevis and around the pin then crimping it. Worked well. It is a MUST to check the wings shape as both the right hand upper and lower wings on mine were twisted at least 12mm different than the left. If I had flown it like that it would surely have crashed. I just twisted the wings past the correct position and heated the covering with a heat gun till I had left and right side the same shape.
It is not an easy build but anyone with some experience building balsa kits should not have to many problems.
Overall a great value for money plane. I used 35 48 815w motor with an 11x8 pro

Well Done HK!. So glad you are now in the UK, and with outstanding prices.

Anyway, just got my 'Tiggie', and it looks even better than the pictures. Superb tight covering, and very nicely built. Can't really comment on the build, as I won't be starting it for a while yet. Probably going to use a Turnigy 3548 790kv on 3s or even 4s. Turnigy Trust 60A ESC. Oh, almost forgot, Exceptional packing, and great tracking details.

Cheers!.
