Accessories

For many RC pilots, there is something really special about flying a Bi-Plane, and there is plenty about the HobbyKing® ™ Pitts S-12 ARF that is special! The Pitts Python is perhaps the ultimate Bi-Plane and this ultra high quality kit really does this amazing aerobatic aircraft justice, not only in terms of scale looks but also performance.

Just look at the quality of the balsa/ply construction and you will see a strong but ultra-lightweight design, and this theme continues throughout the model, carbon fiber control horns, composite/ply motor mount, pull/pull rudder control with rigging wire to stiffen the verical & horizontal stabilizer, glass-fibre wheels spats with large lightweight wheels, alloy cabane and so on.

The HobbyKing® ™ Pitts S-12 is designed specifically for electric flight and is also very practical, quick to field assemble, it features massive removable canopy with a quick release latch and a huge battery tray. This is a good size model that will require a 5s set up for sport flying, however, to get the best from this model, we would reccomend a low kv 6s set up.

Good plane ! Quality parts. Well assembly. Struts of good length. Good covering...
Added wood glue inside. Have to epoxy motor mount as mine disassemble on first nose over. Maybe lack of glue there...
Main concern is about the undercarriage. 2 metal weel pants screwed onto 2 pieces of small plywood : broke on grass before maiden ! I epoxied a thick plywood from side to side and no problem since that. I cut around the three holes... but it's all black there.
She flies really smooth, not fast and landing is easy. I think 1000W is a minimum. 6S is much better than 5S (but it is doable).
I haven't put full throw for now but aerobatic is there. No unlimited vertical but who cares ? Good job HK. Ask same quality for all your planes !

Nice one. Comparable good build quality. Needs strengthening in the engine bay and fastening for landing gear.

It looks like i was the unlucky one among all other buyers because i found a lot of issues in my kit. FIRST off it calls for standar servos so i ordered all 4 standar but when opened the tray for ailerons found out that it needs smaller such as park, so i had to cut part of the mount to make my servos fit, SECOND, it comes with very nice control horns but the clevises don;t fit the pushrods, this rods are way smaller and unthreaded so had to purchase some at the lhs, THIRD and most important is that the fuselage is warped!!!!!!, yes as you read, i installed tail stabs and when put the main wing there is an off set of about 1/2 inch, unveliebable!!!!!, so anyways assembled as i could and installed recommended electronics, 16x10 prop doesn't give unlimited vertical, plane flies well but difficult to get the proper cg, when landing the landing gear base is weak and breaks easily so surgery is needed, anyways is a good looking plane but with lots of issues, i would have rather purchased the hyperion or sebart one for $50 bucks more and avoid this problems.

I owned this plane back when it was a Hyperion kit...It was my favorite plane! I found it on Hobbyking and had to get another. It appears to be the exact same kit except the quality is not quite as good this time around. It is still far better than most of the Chinese ARFs coming over but there are little things that weren't as nice such as the covering job, paint on the landing gear and wheel pants, etc. The manual was also not as good as the original. I would still recommend the plane HOWEVER, the CG is wrong in the manual. It says 65mm from the leading edge of the bottom wing when it should say top wing. The difference will make or break your maiden flight (learned the hard way yesterday).

Hello my pilot friends! Here I am thanking Hobbyking, because after a short time deliverying I have received my Python box. Very well packed with a lot of cushion to take care of items during package flight to Argentina from China.

I am gratefully surprised also for the good quality of parts finish. Beautifully covered wings with Monokote, and very nice the look of every item.

This is my third pretty plane bought from HK, after Global Hawk Predator and Zephyr. Thanks my friends!!!

CG in manual is wrong , i worked it out myself and it is 108mm from leading edge of TOP wing according to my calculations.

Maidened it yesterday with the above CG and it was only just nose heavy in inverted flight , so a good point to start from.

Flies beautiful , and looks great in the air.

Cheers

Patrick

Kaufempfehlung!

wow, what a plane. Hobby King you've done it again!
I flew my Pitts last week for the first time. Believe it or not i put a turnigy 30cc in this kit. What a nice little motor. Starts with one flip after only one tank of gas threw it. I was worried about the C.G. being nose heavy, so i mounted the two tail servos under the tail like you would find in the larger planes. Had no issue with balance it's about a third of the way back from the leading edge. This plane jumped off the runway in less than 10 feet with this set up and flew great.
I have to say though that the hardware that comes with it is lacking the quality that i like. The firewall and landing gear supports are way too week for my tastes also. Not a big issue when you look at this **cking beautiful ARF. Thy have done a real, real nice job with the covering and the painting of the hatch and cowl. no flaws what so ever. Way to go H K and yes i would buy another and do show this bipe off to all my flying buddies.
