A modern take on a beloved classic...the all new Hobbyking Slow Stick is here!

Have you ever owned one of those models that begs to be flown every time you go out to the field? It's that model that you never get tired of flying because it simply flies so well and provides endless fun. If you haven't yet, you're in luck because the Slow Stick is just that model! From walking-pace slow flight to aerobatics such as loops, rolls, stall turns and inverted flight, the Slow Stick can handle it all and looks great while doing it.

The modern design of this model incorporates the use of ultra durable EPO foam and carbon fiber construction, keeping it lightweight yet making it very strong. It has been fitted with a highly efficient brushless motor which is maintenance free and offers long flight times (over 10 minutes with a 1300mAh 2S lipoly battery). The Slow Stick also keeps things simple and pure with the wing being attached by rubber bands, just like the original. This is a simple and proven design which works well and is very forgiving should you have any "rough" landings.

This version of the Slow Stick comes in "Almost Ready to Fly" form meaning that you will simply need to add your own radio system, battery, servos and ESC. The motor comes pre-installed right out of the box.

Be sure to check out the flight video!

Not complete. I know this is a decent plane, my friend has one but you may want to find some extra parts to order if you buy the incomplete kit. My kit did not come with the with the M2 screws for the horns on the ailerons, and also did not include 2 push rod adjusters for the elevator and rudder, they are different sizes as well. I purchased the cheap S0361 3.6g / .45kg / .12sec Micro Servo's as suggested in this page and they are a bit smaller than the ones included in the complete kit, they also do not have a control arm suitable for the push rod adjuster. the servo arms are too small without drilling them out, and not really wide enough to modify safely.

This is a great new version of the GWS Slow Stick, flys great with the supplied motor, you can use 3s batteries on it, I use the Turnigy 3s 1300mah and it does great with the stock 10x 4.5 propeller. the only complaint I have is the wing mounts and rear control rod mount and one servo mount are already glued in place. This makes it alot more difficult to get the CG where you want it. The original GWS version you could slide the wing up or back to get it easily. HobbyKing please stop glueing these in place. Thank You.

This plane fly beautifully. But it can't handle wind well (due to it's light weight). I had added a flight stabilizer to it so it can handle wind a little better. Overall I am very impress with this plane.

This is a great flying airplane. It is quite a bit faster than my old GWS Slow Stick and the airplane is much more durable. There are two things you should know: first, the control throws listed in the manual are for advanced flight, way to much control for a beginner or normal sport flying. I use about 1/2 the specified throws. Second, this airplane can move fairly quickly and cover a lot of ground. For the first flights, I recommend a larger park or a sanctioned RC field. Four crowns for quality is only because it is mass produced, despite it's toyish looks, it is a great flying R/C airplane and a lot of fun.

Incredible flier! Running it on a 3s lipo with a slightly smaller prop, and it seems to handle it just fine.

The plane does loops easily, but make sure to reinforce the wings. Mine snapped off after 3 loops in a row, leading to a terrible crash. Some glue and a new motor mount fixed it though, and now it's as good as new.

I'd highly recommend this plane to all levels of fliers.

arrived this morning and test flown this evening.Very nice I must say and the only thing missing were the aileron bits, but flys very nice on rudder and elevator when I tried flying it that way. I found no other problems at all.Very nice for those calm lazy nights!

The build quality is good. All parts fit together well. Assembling is quite easy.

Albeit, many parts were missing in the box we received: Control Horns and pushrods for ailerons, several screws, pushrod stoppers, pushrod connectors.

So we cannot assemble the slow stick completely and thus cannot fly it.

The white plastic mounting parts are very brittle. The front wing mount broke whilst only inserting the under carriage wire!!! Strapping up with 4 cable ties was no help as plastic part completely broke on first (good) landing.

A pity that a really good job of major redesign of wing and tail parts is totally marred by inattention to re-design/QC/bad material specification of the plastic mounting components.

Not sure what HK propose to solve this problem But the while plastic parts need design review AND better material specification.

Finally put this together after having to order more parts then they list.
As mentioned in the previous review you will need linkage stoppers, y cable and aileron tabs and rods and linkage stoppers.
I set mine up with the stock motor, turnigy plush 25A esc and a zippy flightmax 1300mAh 2S 20C battery.
I'm using an airtronics SD10G TX and the RX500 RX.
I set it up as the manual states, my cg is spot on at 95mm from the front wing mount with the 1300mAh.
Constructing it was a pain as they had already glued the wing mounts and motor mount on. This is ok except the CA bled down into the slots where the landing gear and tail wheel go. This meant I had to spend ages with a small hobby file making enough space for both to fit.
Not that it matters as the mounts did crack after landing in freshly cut grass...not sure how that happens.
The motor mount is flimsy as and I snapped mine off getting the landing gear in. A bit of CA and its now okay, I'd recommend getting a few as the plane on landing if you are not watching in tends to nose dive.
The wing was easy enough to put together as was the rudder and elevators.
The maiden went smoothly until I got a bit excited from pulling back to back loops and upon doing an emergency landing had the landing gear fold up on me. It was a clean landing and should not have happened but I put that down to all the filing I had to do to get rid of the
