A modern take on a beloved classic...the all new HobbyKing® ™ Slow Stick is here!

Have you ever owned one of those models that begs to be flown every time you go out to the field? It's that model that you never get tired of flying because it simply flies so well and provides endless fun. If you haven't yet, you're in luck because the Slow Stick is just that model! From walking-pace slow flight to aerobatics such as loops, rolls, stall turns and inverted flight, the Slow Stick can handle it all and looks great while doing it.

The modern design of this model incorporates the use of ultra durable EPO foam and carbon fiber construction, keeping it lightweight yet making it very strong. It has been fitted with a highly efficient brushless power system which is maintenance free and offers long flight times (over 10 minutes with a 1300mAh 2S lipoly battery). The Slow Stick also keeps things simple and pure with the wing being attached by rubber bands, just like the original. This is a simple and proven design which works well and is very forgiving should you have any "rough" landings.

This version of the Slow Stick comes in "Plug and Play" form meaning that you will simply need to add your own radio system and battery. The motor, ESC and servos come pre-installed right out of the box. You will just need to spend about 30 minutes on the bench to complete the assembly, then you're ready to fly!

Be sure to check out the flight video!

This plane far exceeds it's recommended flight envelope. Have to have plane!

Mar 15, 2018

I love this plane. I have flown this plane in near 20 mph wind and flown backwards many times . You must be able to keep the plane from being blown away after landing but other than that it is waaay cool. Several skilled and competitive flyers at the field have flown it and they all want to get one as soon as they become available. You can fly this plane almost anywhere, it is so forgiving but relatively fragile. I have a few slow hits and only broke the prop with no further damage. Lots of bang for the buck.

I strongly recommend getting one of these planes !

Everyone at the field that has flown my SS immediately fell in love with it. It is tricky enough for the experts ( It will not knife edge due to decreased power and no fuselage ) and slow enough for a beginner. It must be well balanced and then just chop the power and it will virtually land itself. I have seen other Slow Sticks and none of them compare.

3S 1300 lipo

May 28, 2017

I accidentally placed a 3s instead of a 2s lipo in this, nothing bad happened. Did I just get lucky?

Great stick!

Nov 28, 2016

Fun in the calm, fun when it's windy as hell. This stick is a hoot to fly and performs well slow and relaxed or during aerobatics. My neighbor is jealous since my stick has ailerons and his his just flops around with a rudder. Good quality materials. A good mod is to try a 10/7 prop which improves climb performance noticeably.

This plane is exactly what I was looking for. It went together very quickly, perhaps an hour total build time, and it flies great. I wanted a nice, slow airplane to fly at the local park when I didn't want to drive out to the club field, and this Slow Sick should do the trick.
The manual did not include recommended throws, and I set mine a little bit too aggressively for the first flight, but after a few seconds of chasing the plane around the sky I settled down enough to land smoothly and reduce the throws by half. I programmed multiple flight modes after that so the plane can be very docile with low rates, or pretty aggressive (for what it is) with high rates.
All in all I am vry pleased with the plane and I think I'll have a lot of fun with it.

Enjoyed my maiden flight right up to the wings snapping off and the plane plummeting into the ground, the fault was the weak thin spa supplied, I would have rated lower if it wasn't an easy and cheap repair, i would suggest running some thin metal tube in conjunction with the wooden spa for strength, it would be good if hobbyking supplied a carbon fiber one in its place but for the price I wont get to cranky, flies well all in all, very easy to fly

Really enjoying flying this.
Got a Stickmount 20 engine mount from int. warehouse,
after slightly perpendicular landing approach.
Turned aileron throw down a bit,
couple of dabs of ca on u/c and tailwheel wires.
Needed approx. 50g noseweight.
GOOD FUN!!

Just got this as I wanted something slow and simple after a long hiatus from RC flying. I bought the PNF version; most of the things are already preinstalled and minimal time was required to get it flying.

Maidened it with light to moderate wind conditions. Doesn't really track true, and constant control inputs are required to maintain level flight; does fly slow and was fun nonetheless. Flight time was indeed as advertised with a 2s1300.

SS all put together after making a couple of mods. 1st to addressing the white plastic parts which have been reported of how brittle they are. I spoke to my local model store who suggested I cover them with a product called " Supa Fix. Not cheap (10 ) "It's a two part product. 1st you get 2x bottles of Reinforcing powder and 2nd 2x bottles of Ultra strength adhesive. Sprinkle the part with powder ( Black or Grey ) they both come in the pack. Then apply the adhesive. Goes off to rock hard in 7 seconds. I will also make the holes a little bigger in the guides for the push rods as one is binding. Packing tape has been applied to leading edges etc. Rob
