The HobbyKing® ™ Venus is a traditional, nice quality, super tough and very practical glow powered trainer that can be configured as either tricycle undercarriage OR as a tail-dragger!

The Venus is nicely constructed from balsa/ply and features a full sheeted fuselage to withstand the rigours of the odd less than perfect landing! The large horizontal stabilizer is bolt on and is re-enforced by an alloy bracket that doubles up as a tailskid, if you use the tricycle undercarriage configuration, the skid will also protect the elevator. The large wing is 1pc bolt on for fast field assembly and the Venus also features a removable canopy for fuel tank access, those wanting to convert the Venus for electric could use this space for flight packs. Trainers must be robust and the excellent and comprehensive hardware package that is included features heavy duty piano wire control rods, metal clevises and so on, the Venus also uses cap head screws throughout. The undercarriage is similarly tough, the main landing gear is thick alloy and mounts using 4 bolts into captive nuts, the steerable front leg is heavy duty sprung piano wire.

The Venus is nicely constructed, tough and practical, it is also a really nice price for a model of this size and should be really cheap to build, the old adage "the bigger they are, the better they fly" certainly applies to the Venus, it is the perfect club trainer that can be built easily, quickly and cheaply!

After about a dozen successful flights with my electric powered venus, I'm pretty happy with how she flies. There were a few hiccups with the assembly all in all it's a good plane I think. It's a very solid and heavy construction and the landing gear needed reinforcing.

Great value and durable trainer!

2nd post. I'm gob smacked how this model does not get mega complaints! I'm 50 pcnt through the build and here are the problems so far: * No adjustment point at EITHER vend of the rudder & elevator control rods * Control rods super soft and flimsy * Wing bolts to small for threads. Will not screw wing down * Under carriage bolts wrong size (to small) * Studs MISSING from vertical stab * Aileron plastic parts to big for control rods (no work around on this one yet) * Engine mount bolts do not fit engine mount!!! * No screw for fuel tank cover * Wheel axle a screw, will just chew the plastic wheel out. In short, could I suggest the hobby King staff member who did the "Daily" go and TRY to put one together with supplied hardware? My advise, throw all the hardware in the bin, go down to your local hobby store and replace it ALL. Rod

A little bit disappointed. Wood is 2nd grade quality. Covering is multi layer and pealing off even before first flight. Model is very heavy. Instructions CD is for a different version of model.

Control surfaces are not hinged or pinned, very bad for a trainer. Also can't believe that in 2015 this is a single servo wing!!!! (and torque rods feel loose)

On the plus side the pink colour is very pretty.

This an excellent trainer very stable and a joy to fly. I also purchased the ASP 46 off hobbyking and they are a great combo. I passed my A cert with this plane after only 4 flights and I had never flown glow before. Would recommend !!!!

I have just finished building this model, maiden flight was a week ago. I choosed to put a 10cc Evolution gas Engine in the airframe, and it feels lika perfect match. Plane is very stable, perfect for a novice like me. Landings are I would dare to say, very easy, glides well, feels very stable.
Quality of the model is quite good. I had to reapply some glue to the rudder-hinges, porly attached, othewise no complaints quality-wise. I have also ordered som bigger tires, our landning-strip is quite rough, and the plane has some nose-down attitude when on graound, and some bigger tires wont hurt. Also, to finish the model, some linkage-stoppers is needed, didnt come with the package.

Hello,
I just finished assembling my Venus Trainer tonight and plan to maiden flight tomorrow. My plane arrived in perfect condition although there were some hardware items missing. Nothing that was difficult to replace. I'm very pleased with the quality of the plane for the low price paid. I set it up as a tailgragger since I already have a nosewheel trainer. I hope if flies as good as it looks.

Got this plane very fast and well packed. Looks good, but the hinges of the ailerons were not glued, so that the ailerons went out.
Nylon-arms for the ailerons are missing. But for that low money this plane is very good deal! I would buy again! Now waiting for the maiden flight.

Best kit i ever built and fly... modified to a g-60 eletric with a hk 90amp. esc and very simple servos std. hextronic. Lots of money saved and spent with beer and barbecue at field... and surprise: it can hold 6s bats, what makes this plane a rocket climbing and gaining speed in vertical...

My kit arrived today in a plain brown cardboard box with a gaping 4-inch hole in it. Fortunately the hole was in a place where non of the model components had been so there doesn't appear on initial inspection to be any damage, but the packaging for this model is awful. There is no protection for the components apart from the plastic bags they are bundled in. No bubble wrap, no cardboard spacers, nothing. I feel lucky it actually arrived in one piece. This really needs improving. Yes it's a cheap model but it still costs money and we should be able to expect it to arrive safely and undamaged. The model itself looks quite good, with a reasonably good build quality and covering. Assembly and first flight to follow.
