A great looking and handy sized semi-scale model of the renowned Edge 540T aerobatic plane that neatly falls between profile all foam models and fully built-up balsa 3D models and a fabulous model to dip a toe into the world of 3D flying.

The model features an EPP skin over a plywood and carbon fiber built-up structure making it super-light, strong and flexible where needed to shrug off the minor knocks of everyday flying, while retaining scale looks with its fully sectioned cowling, curved canopy, symmetrical air-foil and smooth lines.

That allows for anything from lively sport flying to all-out 3D flying, with prop hanging, spins, tumbles and harriers all within the models capability.

A good quality hardware pack is included, with all of the required parts to complete the airframe ready for your choice of servos, receiver, ESC and motor.

The HobbyKing™ Mini Edge 540T is a quick to build one piece model with good access to the motor, battery and radio gear so that it can be ready to fly at a moment’s notice whenever the opportunity arises!

Features:
• Fully built-up EPP/light plywood constructed fuselage
• Pre-formed wire landing gear
• Fully sectioned cowl and canopy
• Optional side force generators

Quite simply one of the best light aerobatic foamies in its class available from HK
Picked up mine on sale, used 30 amp plush ESC, 1100kv outrunner and 10 x 5 aerostar carbon fibre prop pulling 20amp 220W on a 3S 2200 lipo. Went with Turnigy 9g metal gear servos
Very easy assembly, limited instructions with quality chinglish text
Setup with full throws initially and 50% expo for a starting point. Maiden was uneventful with a little up trim and aileron trim required. Got roughly 7min flight on mixed throttle. This thing is so much fun and great to experiment with, being so light it is capable of any crazy manoeuvre, take off and landing is a breeze
I would recommend going over the engine mounting with hot glue to be on the safe side, I went over all the joints anyway
It could do with a little more power/prop combo but this set up is a good starting point
CG on the wing is fairly well spot on, I pushed the 2200 as far back as it could go (against the inner EPP foam on battery tray) All in all great value and looks great, thanks HK

What a great plane. Handy size, easy to finish. And best of all: flies fantasticly out of the box. Really. Never had a 3D plane that flew better. The Bravado is fantastic, but not for easy 3D, the MPX Acromaster needs too much care as does my 48" Yak. This Edge does what she is supposed to be out of the box. And even the CG is correct without any corrections. My best 3D buy so far.

Great little 3D parkflyer. Very responsive and tracks well at higher speeds. But is stable and doesn't have bad habits when flying slow and low. Wing loading feels fine to me even using heavier 17g servos. I tried the recommended size motor on 3s with a 10x5 prop and it was way underpowered for 3D. Ended up using a Scorpion 2215 900kv with 4S 1000mah lipo and 10x5 prop. This setup has plenty of punch. Still working on best CoG point, the CoG marked on the wings is a good start but for 3D most will find it needs to go back. Overall an awesome plane. My airframe was nicely assembled, everything fit together well, tail surfaces aligned and needed no shimming. Kit hardware is just OK, but usable (I'm probably going to upgrade to ball links).

I love this plane. Make sure you re enforce the motor mount and battery tray.
I used 30 minute Z-Poxy and its holding up verry well. Don't know why everyone is so scared of battery weight. I fly it with a Thunder Power 2700mah 25C 3 Cell for light 3D and longer flight times
and it is just fine after 70 Flights on that battery. I also have flown it with an 1800 45C 3Cell doing faster 3D stuff for about 70 Flights. Here is 2 Videos i did in verry high wind 15 to 20mph. Hope you enjoy all my videos. I will be doing more of this plane soon
