The HobbyKing S550 Hexcopter Combo is an excellent choice for those who prefer to build thier own multirotors but without the headache of selecting your own components. The combo deal includes perfectly matched components which will provide the best performance for your S550!

The S550frame is an excellent strong lightweight hexcopter frame with carbon fiber landing gear and a bonus built in printed distribution board (PDB) for neat and easy wiring.

The added lift capacity of a hex configuration makes this frame ideal for carrying larger payloads such as camera systems and other electronic components. This makes for an exceptional camera rig or simply a very agile and powerful multirotor frame for aerobatics!

The arms of the S550 Frame are carbon fiber reinforced and are upswept to improve stability and provide faster forward flight. The upper deck of the S550 also includes a mini USB socket which allows for PC connectivity, so there will be no need to disassemble the frame to calibrate your preferred flight controller.

The combo pack includes 1 x S550 frame assembly, 6x 2-6s 30 Amp BL Heli ESC's, 6x EMax MT2216-810KV brushless motors, 10 x 4.5 CW/CCW propeller set, Assembly of this frame is super simple with pre-threaded sleeves for all the frame bolts so no lock nuts are required.

nice combo comes with propellers but not the usb cables that the video says that comes with !!!! anyways the naza doesn't need the usb plug to be on the frame, its on the led already one thing that i noticed was the pids are not the same as the 450 its not as stable, it wobbles more and its not as simple to adjust the gains I've seen videos were people place the battery on top! maybe thatss it or the esc and motors are not as good does anyone has pids to share? i have the remote gain assign to my futaba but on my 450 it worked perfect with a simple knob increase or decrease

Very good hexacopter. Very well made. Motors are great, ESC's are great. Qaulity is great. The upswept arms are better then the DJI arms. More stable and they are very stiff arms with carbon rod in them. VERY HAPPY WITH THIS!! I have a naza lite flashed with V2 firmware to go in. 5/5.

This is a very nice take on the DJI flamewheel. However, the arms are reinforced with Carbon Tubes. The lower frame piece acts as power distribution with plenty of solder contacts for the motors and accessories. Plenty of fasteners are included and the instructions are decent enough for the mechanically inclined. There's just enough space between the frame pieces to mount a flight controller, video transmitter and data radio. The flybars are nice and give you flexibility in how you mount your battery, receiver and camera system. The frame has enough power to comfortably lift a lightweight gymbal like the Tarot and a gopro.

Be advised that the ESCs provided in this kit - EMAX BLHeli Optos, do NOT work with HKPilot32 flight controllers or other Pixhawk based controllers. I purchased one, ran through the setup in Mission Control and tested it. The flight controller signal is not compatible for some reason. This is apparently a known issue with emax ESCs. You can research it on DIY Drones. There is a work around but it involves desoldering resistors from the ESC PCB. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, order different ESCs if you plan to use Pixhawk (and you should). Otherwise, this is a nice, quality build frame.
