Are you ready for a flying experience like no other? You better be, because the Super-G is here!
HobbyKing™ brings this bigger, badder brother of the Durafly Auto-G gyrocopter. This plug and fly autogyro in keeping with the Auto-G tradition, is a breeze to assemble, looks amazing and flies just as well.
Autogyros are very unique aircraft utilizing an unpowered free-spinning main rotor to develop lift, and a powered propeller to provide forward thrust. This makes them quite different from traditional fixed wing aircraft. The Super-G offers you this very interesting design in an easy and simple to use plug and fly model.
This model will be especially appealing to those who fly both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, as this model falls somewhere in between. With its very unique flight characteristics, the Super-G is by far one of the most interesting models we have ever flown. In addition to its super slow flight and auto-rotation capability, it can even perform aerobatics such as stall turns and loops!
The Super-G fuselage and tail are constructed from ultra durable EPO foam with a molded in carbon tube in the fuselage boom for rigidity. This model is super easy to assemble with its pre-installed electronics, low parts count; it can be assembled in about 45 minutes.
• Plug and fly - just add your choice of battery and radio system

Received mine last December and have been waiting 8 months for right conditions for take off (grass to die down). It was worth it. Flies very well and great landings. Take off gets shorter with short grass or hard surface. Two successful flights now and very happy. Running S4 2700 but I will replace with a S4 3000. Flew for 6 Minutes with only 20pcnt left in the 2700 battery.
I would definitely buy a replacement if this one has a mishap.WENT TOGETHER QUICKLY. THE SEVEN DEGREES OF LEFT BIAS ON HEAD IS WAY TOO MUCH MINE TOOK OFF AND FLEW BEST AT 2 DEGREES LEFT. NEEDED A TOUCH OF DOWN ELEVATOR FROM PERFECTLY LEVEL. RECOMMENDED THROWS ARE OK EXCEPT THE TURNS ARE SLUGGISH SO I MAXIMIZED THE THROW TO THE MAXIMUM BEFORE ROTOR TOUCHES SUPPORT. STILL I HAD POOR RESPONSE SO THE NEXT THING I DID WAS REPLACED THE TWO PUSH RODS WITH HEAVER ONES AND THAT DID THE TRICK. THE PUSH ROD THAT WAS PUSHING WAS BENDING UNDER LOAD. THE RUDDER FIT IS POOR BUT A GOOD FILLER CAN TAKE CARE OF THAT . THE FUSE WINGLETS HAD A POOR FIT BUT SANDPAPER TOOK CARE OF THAT . THE CANOPY FITS POORLY AND UP TO 10 WITH CONSERVITIVE FLYING.
THERE DOES SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM GETTING REPLACEMENT BLADES SO BE CAREFUL AND MAYBE RECONSIDER BUYING THE MODEL UN TILL REPLACEMENT BLADES ARE AVAILABLE.
I HAVE THE SMALLER GYRO AND LIKE IT BUT I LIKE THIS ONE A WHOLE LOT MORE. HAS THE SOUND OF A GLOW ENGINE MODEL AND JUST LOOKS GREAT.
I THINK THERE IS EVEN A BIGGER ONE AND IF THEY HAVE PARTS FOR IT I MAY GET ONE.
I am dissapointed ! I am a good Customer at Hobbyking, but this is not "Customerfriendly! They sent me a Gyrocopter where the Autostartsystem does not work. I figured out it is the Motor not responding to ESC-Commands. Now Hobbyking offered me to send me a new Autostartsystem (on backorder..........) instead of sending me a new Copter. You cannot change the Autostartsystem without cutting the Fuselage. So i have to damage my brandnew Gyrocopter in order to exchange the Autostartsystem. This is not the way i expect it to be !!! The first time i am really dissapointed from Hobbyking and their Quality !!!This was by far the biggest piece of crap I've ever purchased from HK. Too bad I had to give it one crown, otherwise, I'd have given it a negative 5 crowns. I've been flying RC for 8 years and set this auto-gyro EXACTLY as directed. I am an RC flight trainer at my field, so I kinda know how to fly. Upon take off, it lifted off into a left turn death spiral! HK offers parts, but all you need is a big plastic bag, it disintegrated into a pile of styrofoam. Nearly $200.00 gone in 4 seconds. To repair it, I'd need a whole new ARF. DON'T BUY THIS UNLESS YOU LIKE CLEANING UP DEBRIS FIELDS.This Super G is now one of my best auto gyro in my fleet because of ease of assembly, and its flight characteristics. Easier to fly than the Auto G once you have it set up right. Very light that you can take off in almost no wind conditions.
I would give it a 5 rating but has a few flaws. First, stock blades are sub par made of foam and damage easily. Had to made my own FlyingBalsa blades which turned out fantastic.
The pre-rotor is poorly designed as it uses 3 cell on a 4 cell pack. This will cause the 4 cell pack to get unbalanced. The pre-rotor spring type shaft gets unwound and you have to replace it frequently. The 7 deg. left tilt on the manual is way off, you only need about 2 degs. left tilt. Finally, parts are not available in U.S warehouse.Tried several times to fly it. Our best pilot in our club could not fly it. It crashed and was destroyed. I cannot recommend this to anyone.Usual minor discreprencies with HK selling mostly factory seconds... this one was very good..only 2 stuffed decals, and a severely damaged spinner, which was not relevant, since it was of god-knows-what..certainly not a pusher configuration model. As for Gyroplane models, this is the ultimate in flying experience..just an awesome flying machine well priced. Disregard the instructions about set-up..and apply your own experience! Would I buy another one.... yes..very much so!Super G is Super easy to assemble. Flight characeristics are best described as deliberate and predicable. No surprises. A dream to build and fly. Considerably larger than the G-2, I'm running a Turnagy Nano-Tech 4S-3000 battery. Tip: Place battery as far forward as possible to achieve balance. Plenty of room to run different sized batteries. A "must have" for the gyroplane/gyrocopter RC Enthusiast.Part 2: Test flight was the next evening in a light wind. The auto start is useful rather like a sound effect from Dr Who! For the first flight I opened the throttle gradually and it took off gently at just over throttle.
Easy to fly if you remember it is a Gyrocopter and not a fixed wing aeroplane (or a heli). Roll rate can be slow and needs rudder to get a turn going. Use the throttle to control height. The model can be slowed right down by increasing the pitch. On the approach to land, keep on enough power to maintain forward speed, otherwise it will lose lift from the rotor and drop out of the sky!! Also, do not be tempted to put the nose down, which will also reduce rotor speed! Otherwise, landings are easy and controllable. Once low over the runway, the throttle can be bled off, resulting in touchdown at almost zero speed. Hobby King have got this design right long tail moment, big tailplane and simple. White against a cloudy background can make it tricky to tell which way the machine is rolling. A fellow flier suggested fitting red and green LEDs on the winglets to help. Overall needs a few things fixing, but a great model & good value for money in terms of the flying and fun you will get out of it.Part 1: Assembled and set it up easily in one evening.
1. Like others, the cowl overlapped the Fuz, partially rectified with gentle heat and a squeeze.
2. An X shaped plastic piece didn't seem to have a home, but now I think it may a spare rotor head part.
3. The wing-lets need to be trimmed a little for the edges to neatly line up with those on the Fuz.
4. The wires to the LiPo balance connector were poorly soldered and broke off with little persuasion.
5. Secure the elevator and rudder clevises silicone tubing or similar to prevent them opening up.
6. The Wheel axles are either not assembled correctly or not fit for purpose. The M3 screws actually rotate inside the aluminium under-cart holes this will eventually elongate the metal and/or break the screw. Either replace with proper wheel axles or re-assemble such that the screw is bolted to the metal and let the wheel rotate on the screw.
