This is a top quality heli. It is just a bit bigger than a Trex 500, and is heavier which leads to it's stability. It is easier to fly than the Trex 500 due to its docile nature, but when you give it some throttle it is off like a rocket. Perfect combo!

A couple of pointers, ONLY use a Gaui motor pinion, otherwise you will strip the gears. Just goggle there are plenty of places that sell them. Also make sure you get the big round servo plates to attach to the ail/pit servos. I used a 80 amp esc and bluebird servos (from Hobbyking) and put an Align 780 Gyro and an Align520 tail servo on it. Flies like a dream.

Goes together very well. The plastic parts are good, but I have some concern about the bearings. The OWB (One way bearing) failed at first spool up, and I'm reading reports now about the main bearings collapsing.

I highly recommend getting the metal flybar cage and the X5 tail blade holder assembly.

Note, there was no printing on the tail boom, that came with my kit, and the canopy supplied is definitely past it's used by date. Gaui needs to supply the FRP (fiberglass re-enforced plastic) canopy, or even better a painted FG one.

Just finished building this kit and i am so impressed with the build quality. After building few clones like HK and CopterX, this one was the easiest to build without getting into any sort of problems. Man, i wish i'd knew about it before. Well its never too late, ordered another one :)

just for the info, mine came with front 50t gear.

Excellent Helicopter for this price, In this case, you get more than what you pay. In my opinion it is the cheapest 500 sized helicopter. Additionally, The replacement parts of gaui 425 are cheap.
500 sized helicopters are ideal for beginners because there's balance between stability and agility. Buy it, you will not regret!

Good quality for the price. Please note that you also must order the motor pinion separately, as it is not included in the kit. The kit comes with a 50 T Front main gear, a 19 T One Way gear and a 61 T Rear Main gear. Complete this with an appropriate motor pinion depending on the motor you choose and the flying style you are capable of. You will find the head speed calculator for the ep425 at
http://www.gaui.com.tw/html/answer.asp?sn=134# (the address in the manual is wrong and outdated).

The Basic Gaui 425 is a nice kit. Definately worth the money. However, after recieving the kit and working towards getting it put together I have made the following realizations:
Parts are hard to find and expensive, the HK models of the same size follow the Align Trex model and have tons of parts and upgrades available for cheap.
If I did it again, I would go with one of the HK models.
It's a 5 star product with very little parts support bringing the star rating down significantly.
