Further to my review on 2.12.11 I have tested this motor using a TGY 85A ESC with external Hextronic 5v to 6v UBEC and Fiightmax 5s 3000 mah 20c LiPo combination and the results are perfect for what I want. Prop is an APC 12x8E which gives 34A and 601W static (an APC 12x10E gives 48A and 824W static which is close to max specs)

Both planes are converted IC planes, - one of which is a 70's .40 sized 48'' span 5lb model which flew perfectly with this combo, and the other tested is a converted 58'' Great Planes Cap 232 (.46 sized) which weighs about 5.5lbs which also flew perfectly. Both took off just as well as with their previous IC motors and could be flown easily at half throttle.

With the Cap, I used one of the key ring cameras from HK mounted on the tail, and after 6mins 40sec of flying a few mild aerobatics and flying up to about 400ft to test the video I landed with 46 percent still in the battery! With a motor of that size and a plane approaching 6lbs I was very impressed with the performance, and motor and ESC were barely warm afterwards, (ESC is under the cowl in the Cap where the rec batt used to go so gets good cooling) Have two of these motors and will be buying more as I have 4 more planes I will convert to this combo. 5 stars plus!

I received the motor very quickly, thank you! :)

Well packaged and seems well made, bearings are a little noisy but that can be sorted.

Test results as follows:

4500 Mah, 4 Cell Lipo, 25 c rated.

80 Amp Pentium OPTO esc,

3 Bladed 12x8 Prop (also from HobbyKing!)

Eagle Treee E Logger.

800 Watts, 54 Amps.

Fitted to my Kyosho Spitfire 50, should go well.......

Motor is solid and spins true but the AL spinner doesnt fit right. It hits the center of the motor mount so you have to tighten the screws evenly on the high center. Very time consuming and never got it just right, still has off balance tip.

Have this motor on an Extreme Vanquish II that on a 4S pack and 13x8 APC prop smooth vertical figure 8s starting from the bottom, are no sweat for this set up. Have flown over 60 flights and absolutely no problems.

If you have a .40 to .60 sized ic plane of around 4-6lbs you want to convert to electric then this is the motor. I have found that this motor with a 5s 3000 20c lightmax lipo and TGY 80/85 esc with Hextronic 5/6v UBEC seems to be just the right weight to replace a common .46 ic motor (with muffler, tank, mount, receiver batt, throttle servo etc)which you can remove from the plane.

Have tested this set-up thoroughly through 8 battery cycles and found that with a 12x6 windsor K series prop it is getting around 700w and around 36A at WOT( gets approx 5 mins at 1/2 throttle ground testing) . This is below its capabilities and nothing gets even warm. Haven't fully flight tested yet, but at 1/2 throttle, pulls a converted 48'' 5lb model off the ground without effort with truckloads to spare. Full throttle feels like the pull of a .60 ( have 3x .46 ic powered models I may convert to this motor !!) 5 stars so far, will report on full flight testing.
