Great Yacht at an affordable price

First time owning an RC Yacht so wasn't sure what to expect. Items well packaged and all parts were there. The major let down are the instructions that are provided. The photocopied quality pictures are just not viewable so you are reliant on the text instructions only. Probably took me an hour longer to setup than it should have because of this. The other tip I'd have is on the rope to put some superglue on it where you intend to cut and let it harden, then cut on an angle. This helped when threading through the various holes and kept the rope in shape. The instructions for the bowsies had you go through one of the loops three times, there was no way I could do this, two would have been a stretch so improvised.

Arrived on time, well packaged and final assembly was not too difficult. Performs very well in all conditions and is highly admired by my boating pals. No problems so far, and I would consider getting another.
Well done for coming up with a great fast yacht.

Really nice this sailboat, received quickly, excellent kit quality, can sail in low wind as strong wind by adapting the good sail area, 2 kit of sails are provided, really top! thank you hobbyking! great site!

Great boat

I bought the boat for $149 which at the time was a good deal considering both A and B rigs were included. Soon after the price went to $91. The deal of the century. There is NO class to race with and the Affinity doesn’t compare to a class RG65. The boat can compete with a DF65 but isn’t class legal. I bought a v6 DF65 hull for $50 and retired the Affinity hull so I could race in that class. Everything switched over perfectly. The DF class has added an A+ rig and sail (which woke the boat up with 25% more sail area and cost $70. The B rig will be used only 5% of the time. This is a GREAT sailing boat. I compete in several classes and this is my favorite. Although this is labeled “HydroPro” it is a Joysway product and shares ALL parts with the DF65. For this price you can buy a new DF65 with radio and receiver.

very nice model fits together well but NO instructions for the rigging. ..so i just looked up "df65 manual v1-v5 and also get the v6 version just in case) and it seems to be going too plan.

So much fun

I was lucky enough to buy this bought for 90$ 2 years ago. It is loads of fun to play with and runs great. After 2 years it looks amazing and has been failure free. It handles great and remains dry after loooonng runs. For the battery I'm using a turnigy 1700 2S lifepo reciver pack and we have literally run a whole week before charging. 179.00 seems steep but it is a great boat and tons of fun!

Back again, but at a premium cost

May 26th 2018..Definitely a great boat, we have 14 within our group, but none ever cost this much, quite a few around $130-$160.
They were a viable option to the almost same V5 DF65 ( like the Explorer, having a wider beam but two sets of sails and rigging) but this is now overshadowed by the hefty price. Sure, at this time it qualifies for free delivery which compared to a DF65 is a $15 saving. Hopefully the price will become more realistic again, even $180 would be acceptable.

I followed the directions and it sails perfect. I used a 2.4 receiver under the deck and have absolutely no problems with reception.

Eight months in...

After eight months I'mstill enjoying this yacht and it holds it's own against well set up Joysway 65's. My first review highlighted a few leak issues but once rectified, noothers have materialised. I'm still using the original deck patch,just sealing the edgeswith white insulation tape. Although dry cells run a long time in the boat, I now use Instant NiMH cells. I sail in salt water,rinsing with tap water after each session, sofar all components show no sign of corrosion.

awesome boat for the money

Until this boat I had zero experience with a sailboat. I've owned hundreds of prop boats over the years, but it wasn't until I met a lady and her husband at the local water hole that rent R/C sailboats did I ever get a chance to try one. I then decided to get my own, and I'm glad I did. I will say, the instructions are not great, especially when it comes to the rigging (something I knew NOTHING about). But with some research and help from the rental guy (who owns 2 world records for sailing!) even he's impressed with how well it handles. Even when they're packing in their high end boats due to too high winds...the Affinity is still handling the wind and loving it (and she's fast!). I did replace all the rigging lines with better quality stuff than the kite string it comes with (a 5 dollar roll of braided 80lb fishing line will let you re-rig this boat 100 times over). Hull quality is excellent, sails are great, (mine came rolled, not folded, so no creases) haven't had any issues with the included servos. overall I'm really impressed. Running it with a much modified turnigy 9x that I use for my quadcopters and an orangerx receiver, but there's no reason you couldn't run this on a very basic 2ch 2 stick radio. Overall, I love this boat!
