Finished

Jun 23, 2017

Just finished mine this afternoon. I built the wing flat and added ailerons. I had a small set of wheel pants left over from another project and added them as well. I had a Dualsky 2826 that I bought somewhere on sale and that was built in too. All up weight is 560g with all of the extra goodies. Can't wait to fly it. Check out my pics unde files.

Idol

Jun 06, 2017

just built the fuz only a slight niggle as the slots for the engine bulkhead and the bottom slot for the second former with the 2 undercarrage plates was under cut just needed to be filed out about 1mm for the formers to fit. The ply Fuz should be strong enough to fit a small ic motor
poor quality instructions, if they spent 10 minuets longer writing the instructions they would be ok!!! and a pre bent undercarrage would be nice.........

maidened my Idol today, flew perfectly... I made some mods: reduced dihedral (1/2" at each wingtip), added 1" ailerons and an aluminum landing gear, 2210 1400KV motor, 3S 1300mAh battery, 7x4 prop... pictures under the files tab as aileron_idol

I give it 5 stars, but considering the modifications.
This is the second IDOL review, After I had an electric with some modifications made by myself, flown many times and gave the plane to a friend, I decided to buy another one and put the glow engine ap hornet 0.15. But I made almost the same modifications. I did the wing without dihedral, put two glass rod reinforcements along the stringers, added ailerons and put two pins in the middle of the front to fit in the fuselage, and a hole at the middle of the rear to insert a fastening screw. The modifications on the fuselage are, reinforced the entire nose where is the amount of the engine to the location of the landing gear, and the wing fitting
So far I only made 2 flights, with the Glow-Idol, and it was very good, I am very satisfied. The performance was close to the electric idol with FC 28-22. however feels better stability due to the higher weight. The flight weight of electric is 750grams, and the flight of glow with battery and full tank is 870g

Great little kit, easy to build, even though the "instructions" are almost useless. I reinforced the front fuselage formers with scrap ply pieces as they are a little weak without doubling up. I bought a second kit and will build it with ailerons,on rudder/elevator it flies nice but make sure you add side thrust to the motor mount. I am learning to fly with this model and so far it has been quite easy,so I would say it is a great beginners model. I left the front hatch off and the 2 or 3S 1500mah sits on velcro nicely to balance the plane, the ESC mounted on the underside of the same comartment. The motor (2200kv outrunner) blew up though,a shame as it made 115w on a 2s,and it flew nicely.I have a different motor now and it makes only 95w on a 3s,but it is enough to fly it easily, and more than 30 minutes are possible.

Amazing Kit perfectly laser cut. The Parts join up like a Charm. The Final finished product is a beauty. I had mounted a Cox 0.049 with a 6x4 Prop Fuel 12pcnt Nitro, 15pcnt synthetic, 5pcnt Castor. The CG at 20pcnt it is a docile flier. Only three Channel with Rudder on Channel 1. An aileron Modification would have been great, may be later after I had a lot of fun with it.
