I am using this motor with 2 x 6cell lipo's in series and an 80amp esc and 18 x 12 prop in a 30cc Yak. At first I had a lot of problems with the motor loosing power over half throttle and making a screeching noise. After some discussions everybody told me it was timing. I changed the timing from automatic to high. Smoke came out of the motor after about 5 seconds. I took the motor apart and found that the magnets moved and is touching the back plate. Moved and epoxy the magnets back. I throttled it up again, everything seemed fine until the motor pulled out of the engine mount provided and demolished the planes nose. The motor mount is definetly to weak for this setup. I will rebuild the nose and tell you if I managed to fly this plane.

Major complaint is advertised weight = 460 grams! This it most definitely is NOT... straight out the box onto the scale it is measured at 535 grams - a significant error when weight is a main criteria for selecting this motor...

This motor is terrific

Nov 14, 2007

I bought this motor instead of an AXI 5320/28 to power a Thunder Tiger F8F Bearcat. The model was designed for a .90 sized glow motor and it weighs about 11 pounds RTF.

I'm running a TP 9s2p 4200 mAH ProLite battery. The motor draws 50 amps with an APC 15x12 four blade pattern prop. It's really quiet but pulls the model vertical like a homesick angel-) The model does 80 MPH easily in level flight and I measured it doing 100 MPH downwind with a doppler measurement program.

The motor is very durable as well. I've had a few nose overs which bent the motor mount but the motor keeps going strong after a dozen flights. It runs very cool as well.

I highly recommend this motor to anyone looking for the best value for large scale aircraft.

great motor, put it in a 25% 260 extra by cermark. used 10 cells 4800ma zippy, great batteries, motor draws 2300 watts. the most important thing is the motor accelerates under hard throttle so 3d is great.

gassers eat your heart out, electric rules. this is 3 hp and under 4 lbs. encluding motor, speed control and batteries.
